    UNK: Revisiting the unknown attribute

i havent read anything on the UNK (1-4) attributes for sometime but the last ideas i heard concerning its potential meaning were debunked (i think one guess had to do w/ a QB throwing sidearm). i pretty much forgot about it until today when, amid PMs on my draft class file, i got a msg from OS Member, 500bloc (thanks), as follows:

i remember i had found out what the "unknown" numbers are for, example-
unk0 = special team type player, will not really progress
unk1 = backup type player, progress alittle
unk2 = average good player, can progress to a star
unk3 = star players, the only way really to become elite,
i noticed cb's in the later years never seem become this.

the unknown numbers basically represent a peak rating divided into 4
parts, so u can basically say they add unseen value like this
    0 is D peak
    1 is C peak
    2 is B peak
    3 is A peak
to the best of my recollection, no one had yet considered examining the attribute over several franchise seasons. all the suggestions i remember were guessing on "in-game" (one single game) impact. ive only done very minimal testing on this idea as of yet, but it looks promising. if anyone wants to take it upon themselves to try & confirm this please do.

I feel like bobby fisher, on a side note i think the attribute also might contribute something to trades also, basically it acts like a potential rating.

I checked it out the other day by knocking Ben Roethlisberger into the unk3 ranking. Didn't do any good. Best he became was an 80 and he kept fluxuating. His consistancy constantly became worse and his numbers went down.

        I simmed about 4 or 5 seasons

BTW I was using the default rosters with it as well.

did his stats go down or was it just his overall?

His consistancy went down from the 40 or 41 when it started down to 30 by the end of the 4th season.

His overall rating never really went anywhere.

Also his stats constantly went down from season to season. Especially his Completion percentage on passes.

I haven't really tried anyone else yet. I'll get to it when I have a little more time.
