Yeah, with a young, not very good team, I wasn't expecting us to shatter expectations this year. Our non-conference schedule (exception being Stony Brook) is a little tough, especially with Army out to a good start. Luckily we play the weaker teams in AAC play (Tulsa, SMU, Tulane) then a bunch of middle of the road teams (Cincinnati, Memphis, Houston, ECU). I think 3-4 conference wins is reasonable, I think we can beat all of the weaker teams. Hopefully once Bryant Shirreffs becomes eligible next year we can have a QB who can throw a football haha.

As I said a few posts up, Army being good (they are 4-1 through 6 weeks) really hurt us. I felt we needed that win to have a chance at a bowl, but with the L that kind of deflates us. Presuming we can win vs. Stony Brook after another bye in week 5, hopefully we can take some momentum into AAC play.

Thank you very much Lop. Glad to hear you like the layout, you inspired me a lot with your old Wichita State 'chise and as a result I have implemented and expanded upon some of your ideas. Getting better with pixlr (free alternative for photoshop) has also helped me out a lot with the layout.

GAMEDAY!

Week 6 for our UConn Huskies sees them facing FCS foe Stony Brook. Not a lot to say about this game other than this is essentially a must-win for UConn to have any shot at a bowl game in 2014.

The Seawolves have had a rough go of things in 2014, falling to 1-4 early in the season.

UConn doesn't necessarily have to play perfect to beat the Seawolves, but Chandler Whitmer, who has been given one last shot at the starting QB gig, has to cut down on turnovers. Tim Boyle played well last week in garbage time and is patiently waiting in the wings.

The assumption is also that the Offensive Line will play better, which has been hard to count on the past 3-4 years.

In addition, the defense will have to stop Stony Brook's scrambling QB Steve Baker. Baker isn't as good as Angel Santiago of Army, but they still struggled defending him nonetheless 2 weeks ago. Jefferson Ashiru has noted through the week he would love to have a big game.

Prediction: UConn 21, Stony Brook 7

I'm willing to bet the farm I do not own that UConn's defense can finally resemble that of an FBS team. Chandler Whitmer comes out with a big chip on his shoulder and does a serviceable job.
