Gotta be honest your dynasty was the inspiration these last couple weeks to get back into trying a dynasty. I have extra time on my hand before school starts back up and I'm a big Illinois fan. I'm not the best at flashy pictures or anything. Originally this was gonna be a video dynasty, but my capture card kept skipping I took that as a sign to work on my writing skills lol. I'll still be able to have in game pictures and such. Hope you all enjoy!

Illinois Shocks USF in Lovie's Return to Raymond James

This catch by Dudek was just one of many incredible plays that led Illinois to victory

The Illini pulled off not only an upset, but an incredible game altogether. Things just seemed to be going their way in this one as their defense caused turnovers and their offense turned them into points.
The game didn't start that way though as both teams took it rather slow in executing their offenses early. Chayce Crouch led the Illini down the field on the opening drive to put them up 7-0 and USF responded 3 minutes later with a field goal to keep it close. But it was then, late in the 1st quarter, when all momentum shifted towards the Illini. On the second play of their next drive Crouch threw across the middle to an open Griffin Palmer. A defender dove short of Palmer's legs and he was off to the races, another defender took a good angle but he juked back inside right past the defender and into the endzone. That 75 yard TD play took the life right out of Raymond James Stadium. And the onslaught continued.

This catch by Palmer sparked a big run by the Illini

After a Patrick Nelson interception late in the first put the ball back into the hands of the Illini, Dudek came up with an incredible catch in traffic (pictured above) then was able to stay on his feet and bring down to the 9 yard line. That play led to another Crouch to Palmer TD putting the Illini up 21-3.

This catch by Palmer was his second TD of the day

The Illini would continue to stop the USF offense forcing three and outs and causing a fumble that would put them right back in scoring position. Kendrick Foster would then run for two touchdowns. The Illini would have a 35-3 lead with less than 2 minutes left in the half. It didn't stop there as Quentin Flowers would throw a bomb down the sideline, just to have it picked off by Cameron Watkins who would then take it 66 yards back to the house and the Illini were up 42-3. Flowers would run one in late in the 2nd to make it closer. But at half, it was all Illini 42-10.

The first of Flowers' rushing TDs late in the first half.

The third quarter would make things interesting. Flowers would lead the USF offense down the field on the opening drive of the half that he would cap off with another TD run, his second of the day. After the USF defense would manage a stop, Flowers made a beautiful 30 yard pass to a wide open McCants for a TD making the game 42-24. Then the USF defense forced Crouch to fumble on a sack by Senat that Megginson seemingly just let waltz right into the backfield. Megginson was benched in favor of backup lineman Adam Solomon after the play. That put USF in the redzone and Flowers would once again trot into the endzone. The game was now 42-31. An 11 point game! After all of what was done to them in the first half USF had gotten themselves back in it. They were poised to make an incredible comeback.

Flowers had great blocking and a wide open lane to the endzone on his 3rd rushing TD of the night.

Unfortunately their story ends there. Chayce Crouch would run in another score late in the 3rd, the Illinois defense adjusted in the 4th quarter to stop Flowers from running all over them, and they even tacked on a late field goal to give them a final score of 52-31. Lovie Smith's return to Raymond James was a triumphant one indeed. The Illini look poised and ready for the season, especially offensively, which is uncommon for a Lovie team, and they're ready to go back to Champaign to take on Ball State next week. Ball State scored a victory over FCS team Missouri State 28-12.

Crouch would score POTG honors with his amazing performance.

(So the Heisman screwed up in game, after week 1 it's all people who haven't played, idk if it's common or if it's cuz of the rosters or what, but I went through the stats and picked 5 players who we should be on the lookout for. It might be 5 completely different people if it changes after week 2)

Game Notes
Ball State heads into Champaign to take on the Fighting Illini after both teams won games in Week 1. Ball State took on Missouri State from the FCS and was able to take control early for a 28-12 win. Neal threw for 228 yards and 3 TDs, 2 of them to Lacancaria. While Green ran for 101 yards and a touchdown of his own. Singleton led their defense with 3 tackles, 2 sacks, and an interception. The Illini were able to take care of business behind Crouch throwing for 342 yards and 2 TDs and running for 2 as well. Foster added 2 on the ground while Dudek and Palmer were catching everything. The Illini defense forced 5 sacks, a fumble, and 3 INTs including a pick six. The defense looks to keep it going against this Ball State team in the home opener. Can the Illini continue their winning ways? Or fall back to .500 with an early loss to the Cardinals?

I'll definitely be following this. I was actually considering Illinois for my dynasty. Came down to them, Rutgers, and my teambuilder. Ultimately went with the teambuilder tho.

Re: Hail to the Chief | Illinois Fighting Illini Dynasty (NCAA 14)

The Ball Falls in Favor of Illinois Once Again

This pic pretty much sums up how everything went Illinois' way this game and this didn't happen until the fourth. Dre Brown's flexibility rating is 99.

Home Opener in Champaign. Nothing better. This is how you know it is fall. And what better way to go into your home opener as a 1-0 team coming off a huge upset. AND theyre facing a team that has a lot less talent. And then it happens...the first play from scrimmage. A 79 yard bomb from Riley Neal to Corey Lacanaria and Ball State is up 7-0. A blown coverage by Patrick Nelson, who anticipated run on the first play and got caught, sucks all air out of Memorial Stadium. But don't fret Illini fans, this is Chayce Crouch's team now and he's showing it. A slow methodical drive much to the pleasure of Lovie ends in an 8 yard slant route TD from Crouch to Mike Dudek to tie the game up. Less than 2 minutes later, however, and Gilbert gets a wide open lane to the endzone to go back up 14-7. But the Crouch to Dudek connection wasn't through. Crouch found Dudek again on a curl route, Dudek then broke two tackles and was off to the races, 52 yards, for the score to tie it up 14-14. And that was just the first quarter.

After Dudek broke this tackle, he was gone.

Illinois' defense did what they do best and adjusted. In the second quarter they were like a brick wall. Not letting Ball State get anything going. And on the offensive side Malik Turner finally showed up catching two touchdown passes including one that should've been picked off but went right past the defender and into the hands of Turner who turned around and scampered in for the score.

How did Turner come up with this?

At halftime, the score stood 28 to 14, good guys.

In the third it went back to being an even game. McLaughlin started the scoring midway through with a field goal to put the Illini up 31-14. Ball State answered with a rushing TD from Green and Foster got one of his own right back. And Ball State finished off the quarter with a field goal of their own. The deficit remained 14. 38-24 Illinois.

Even Malik Turner got in on the run game.

The third and fourth both were filled with Illinois handling the ball running and throwing short routes on 3rd downs. Corbin caught a screen pass from Crouch and took it 27 yards to the house for a TD. Neal responded with a rushing TD but it was too little, too late. And then..a very peculiar play happened. A play that just showed how much this game was just leaning in favor of Illinois. The third string running back for Illinois, Dre Brown, took a handoff on a 4th and 1 play in Ball State territory to keep the ball out of their hands with a little less than two minutes left. He got the first down and went down...or so we thought. His knees and elbows actually never touched the ground. He proceeded to get up run through his many blockers who had no idea what was going on. No whistle on the play. Nothing. A Ball State defender tried to chase him down but he stiff armed his way into the endzone for the TD. With that it would end the game with the final score, 52-31. The exact same as last week but in two completely different ways. The defense wasn't nearly as turnover happy and the offense was pretty equal throughout the game not having one quarter or half better than the other.

Idk how to embed but this is a video of Dre Brown's run. Not the best quality cuz my elgato has not been working correctly.

Game Notes
Illini are coming off of back to back non-conference wins. Both ending in a score of 52-31. Rutgers comes into Champaign after losing their season/home opener to Eastern Michigan 17-14. Rutgers could never really get their offense going as Rescigno only through for 137 yards and 1 pick. Martin ran for 111 yards on 20 carries. Davis led the defense with 5 tackles and 1 sack. This may spell doom for the Scarlet Knights as they are going up against the #2 scoring offense through the first two weeks. Led by QB Chayce Crouch who has thrown 656 yards and 7 TDs with no INTs, who has been whispered in Heisman talks, and receiver Mike Dudek who has collected 229 yards and 2 TDs through the air the Illini offense looks to keep going. Can the Scarlet Knights slow down the Illini's potent offense? Or will the Illini defense finally shut down an offense completely to complement their high scoring offense?

Re: Hail to the Chief | Illinois Fighting Illini Dynasty (NCAA 14)

I'm following! Love seeing an Illinois dynasty and I grew up watching the Illini. And I've played multiple Illinois dynasties so it'll be interesting to see how Lovie does with this team.
