JoshC's Sliders (Find them here!)

I am starting as OC for UMass and want to try to advance my career realistically. So no jumping straight to a Power 5 HC job from here. I plan on playing every game.

I will be realigning conferences according to reality and starting in 17-18 season will do as I see fit.

I will be using mjavons dynasty tool for recruits and players leaving early. (mjavon's Dynamic Dynasty Tool)

I will be incorporating my own progression/regression system.

I will be incorporating Grad transfers and Suspensions.

Re: Coaching Legacy of Derick Sunderland (NCAA Football 14)

WEEK 1
UPSET ALERT
TCU over #16 LSU 37-29

UMass @ #19 Wisconsin

James White lead the Badgers to victory behind 4 TD on the ground. The UMass defense had no answers for him and while they held him in check the first half, he came out all cylinders firing after halftime. This marked the debut of new Offensive Coordinator Derick Sunderland. His offense looked good the first half, actually managing to lead at halftime 14-13. After halftime they looked flat though and QB A.J. Doyle threw 5 interceptions after falling behind. Hopefully Coach Sunderland gets the offense back on track next week against FCS East.

Coach Sunderland had this to say afterwards, "Look, I'm a big believer in honesty and the truth is I strayed from the gameplan the second half. I tried to open the playbook up too much and A.J. [Doyle] wasn't ready for it. His first collegiate start and it's against a ranked opponent in their backyard and I didn't do him any favors with my play calling. Next week I plan to keep it simpler and build momentum for the following week and get some confidence in our guys."

Center Matt Sparks and Defensive End Trey Seals were Suspended for today's game due to their involvement in a Bar Fight the night before. The announcement was made shortly before kickoff and both players are expected to make their season debuts next week against FCS East.

Georgia over #9 South Carolina 24-19
FIU over #15 UCF 20-13

FCS East @ UMass

The Howlers spoil the Home debut of the Minutemen. The UMass offense looked much improved building a 24-10 halftime lead. QB A.J. Doyle rebounded nicely from his 5 INT performance last week and threw 4 TD to only 1 INT this week. HB Jordan Broadnax hit the century mark rushing to go along with his TD. The defense seemed to really lose focus after halftime for the second consecutive week.

HB Stacey Bedell is expected to miss 3 Weeks with a Pectoral Tear. CB Randall Jette is expected to miss 1 Week with a Broken Thumb.

Kansas State hosts UMass next week. Time will tell if the UMass Defense can put together a whole game.

UMass @ Kansas State

Minutemen fall short against Wildcats. UMass amassed multiple injuries to their backfield and still nearly upset the Kansas State Wildcats. HB Jordan Broadnax went down the first drive of the game and all of his backs had to step up at one point or another as they saw themselves get banged up throughout the course of the game also. The Minutemen had a chance to tie it up with 22 seconds left but fell just inches short of the goal line on a 4th and 3 play. The game showed a marked improvement for the defense as they held the Wildcats to just 21 after giving up 41.5 points a game.

After the game OC Derick Sunderland had this to say, "I'm proud of our guys today. We played a physical team and held our own. Yes we came up short but after tweaking our playbook this past week I saw an improvement in our running game. Our backs stepped up big today and definitely have earned themselves additional playing time going forward. We host Vanderbilt next week and I personally can't wait to see the continued improvement.

Vanderbilt @ UMass

Minutemen get the win! UMass won its first game of the season 35-28 over the Commodores in a hard fought battle. QB A.J. Doyle played a great game with 3 total TD. UMass HB J. Wilson was injured for the game while blocking. OC Derick Sunderland seems to have the offense firing on all cylinders and the defense has stepped up the past few weeks. Hopefully the bye week doesn't halt the Minutemen momentum heading into conference play.

Week 5 has some great matchps set to happen that should really help shape the conference races.

We start the week off with a big one Thursday night in the ACC as 3-1 Virginia Tech squares off with 3-0 #21 Georgia Tech. It's a rivalry game and win here for either team is likely to see them move up in the rankings.

We have a top 20 matchup as #15 South Carolina takes on #20 UCF in hostile territory. South Carolina has the #7 Pass offense with 367.0/game but UCF has been stingy through the air only allowing 181.0/game. Look for one side or the other to give.

Arkansas looks to bounce back after a tough loss to Rutgers with a win over #19 Texas A&M in their SEC opener.

In the big time afternoon game we'll see #7 Oklahoma put their undefeated record on the line against a very tough #18 Notre Dame, who just knocked off previously undefeated Michigan State. Can the Fighting Irish make it two streaks snapped in a row?

#2 Florida State looks to keep it going against an undefeated Boston College squad. The Eagles beat USC last week 30-17 so they are a legitimate threat. A win here could find the Eagles in the rankings for the first time this season.

#22 Arizona State sits at 1-2 after back to back losses to ranked opponents. Can the Sun Devils right the ship against USC? Or will USC be able to right their own ship after losing to Boston College last week?

And finally the Prime time game everyone has talked about this week is #11 Wisconsin heading to Columbus to take on #4 Ohio State. Kirk Herbstreit is picking the Badgers but the numbers point Ohio State's way. OSU is averaging 501.8 Yards of offense and the Badgers Defense is allowing 296.5 Yards. The Badgers have had a nose for the football this year though with a +5 TO differnece. They'll have to hope to continue that to beat the Buckeyes.
