is using the 1/4 guess pitch cheating??

is guessing pitch considered cheating? don't get me wrong lately I haven't been using the guess pitch, I still can hit some bombs and read the ball better since I don't be focusing on a specific pitch and location, but I also do strike out more than I usually do when I guess pitch and am prone of the change up that drop low and out of the strike zone. But whenever I use guess pitch I feel like I'm cheating and relying on it too much, I know you get a penalty when you guess the pitch wrong(your PCI gets smaller when you guess wrong) but I still feel like I'm cheating.. What are your thoughts on this topic?

I wouldn't call it cheating since it's a feature of the game. I'd call it a crutch. Some people need it to make the game playable for them.

That's what makes The Show great. Everybody should be able to find a mode/difficulty that allows them to have fun playing the game.

Fun is key here. But I prefer to use contact swing when down to 2 strikes in the count it prevents a lot of strikeouts and you can foul off a lot of tough pitches even ones your early on. If you hate the guess pitch cause you feel like your cheating, focus on contact swing to avoid K's. With it you can swing straight through the zone and just have to worry about "timing" the ball, and sometimes you get great results.

how can it be cheating when its a feature in the game that the cpu constantly adapts to?

        No its not cheating.

do whatever you feel is fun. i used to use guess pitch, but this year i committed to no guess pitch. MAN WAS IT WORTH IT. it took about 3 weeks of solid play, but i got used to it. best decision i made.

Agreed; not cheating. IMO, one will become dependant on it, and never improve. The only guess pitch option that doesn't hurt your game is 'no feedback'.

              This, oh so much.

As CB is referencing, this is mentioned in the in-game strategy guide under Guess Pitch - the AI does indeed see when you guess right and may pitch you differently based on that knowledge.

Re: is using the 1/4 guess pitch cheating??

I use it mainly for knowing when its a fastball. If i know its not a fastball i will watch the pitch more closely to see how its moving and all that. I always guess down cause i am horrible at deciding on low pitches. Anywhere else i am pretty accurate at deciding if its in or out but down low i am horrible.

Changeups do still get me though. Especially when they have a 95MPH 4SFB a 92MPH 2SFB and a 80MPH Changeup. That Changeup is really effective then for the CPU cause in my mind im still looking for the speed of that 2SFB.

Not cheating just an aid. It makes it a bit easier for me and its still fun. I still have games with only 1 hit LOL sometimes nothing lands safe for you.

I don't use it and also like to use contact swing a lot when I have two strikes. However using analog batting I don't know if I am even choosing contact or power because I get no indication.

Strange thing is, I don't remember when I wrote this. Oh, wait, so this means I am not the only one? This is ME to the extreme.

Yes, I use guess pitch 1/4...I think it simulates not "being there" and the actual feel of the ball coming in. I like it, any way, mostly for that low pitch, or to tell if it is a fastball (hmm, heard that somewhere).

For the poster above, I have edited the camera to lower it and found it does now help with the lower pitch. Still feel like it is the weak point of my game, but it is better seeing it drop now that the mid-strike zone is centered.

Re: is using the 1/4 guess pitch cheating??

I have Guess Pitch 1/4 on but I do not use it nearly as much as I did in the past. In fact it is mainly used to sit on fastballs from time to time.

I found myself become a much better hitter not using guess pitch anymore and I use Catcher 9 camera for my hitting view.

It is far from cheating and a good tool to get a feeling of how to learn to anticipate pitches.

I do encourage you though to wean off of it and really use the contact swing when your down 0-2, 1-2. It works wonders.
