Anybody else fast-forward thru pitching and have this problem?

I'm playing a season with the Braves (12-20 thru 32 games) on All-Star difficulty using OSFM Spring Training v4 rosters. I don't like to pitch in baseball video games, so I fast forward through defensive innings. My most significant pitching slider adjustments are CPU pitcher control and strike frequency, both set to 0. My team ERA of 5.27 is ridiculous for the Braves, even if they are only rated the 18th best staff on this roster version, and guys who should have decent numbers are getting killed. Examples:
    Tim Hudson - 7 GS, 2-4, 7.09 ERA, 1.85 WHIP
    Johnny Venters - 17 GP, 2-3, 12.46 ERA, 2.38 WHIP ( 23 H in 13 IP )
    Eric O Flaherty - 16 GP, 1-1, 7.98 ERA, WHIP 1.70 ( 22 H in 14.2 IP)
    Craig Kimbrel - 14 GP, 0-1, 6.55 ERA, 1.91 WHIP (16 H in 11 IP)
    Tommy Hanson - 7 GS, 1-2, 4.57 ERA, 1.26 WHIP

It just seems like the deck is stacked against me when fast-forwarding, ESPECIALLY during late innings. Does anyone else FF and have they had the same type of experience

I guess I don't see how this is comeback related? All he mentions is that it seems worse in the later innings than it does throughout the game.

Since you don't pitch and just sim through every half inning have you tried lowering the pitching difficulty? That might do the trick.

Fast Forward murders me. 9 times out of 10, it seems, if I use it the CPU will score a run or 6 in the inning.

I've finally just resigned myself to the fact that I have to play the whole game even if I'm winning 8-0 because using FF just isn't safe. It's almost like the game is punishing you for not playing the whole game.

Read a lot of that here on the forums...

Only used fast forward a few times. But I can't stand it because it takes pitchers out when I don't want them to. Too annoying to put up with. I'll just save my game and come back later if I must.

This is exactly why I hope The Show 12 adds a fast-forward one AB at a time option, so I can control pitching changes without having to pitch. I don't unhderstand why the game does not have this already

One thing that I would love to see next year is to allow us to jump in and out of sportscast manager (sp?) With Sportscast manager I fee that you still have control of what happens (ie. Pitching changes, steals, Hit and Runs). I know that you can enter the game from sportscast manager but once you enter the game you can either sim the rest of the game or Fast Forward which I avoid as it always tends to bite me in my @ss. Id much rather just jump back into sportscast manager.

I have been using this from the get go and like others have been getting murdered more times than not.
I was warming up pitchers, taking out the starter around the 6th or 7th inning, using the set up man for the 8th and the closer for the 9th but always seemed to give up a rediculous amount of runs.
Call me crazy but what i do now and it seems to have at least limited the crazy inning or two is this....
I just let the starter go as long as he goes and let the comp put in whatever reliever they want whenever they want.....i've even seen them use a reliever in a save situation...lol.
Now of course this is in no way sim and certainly if you are looking for realistic numbers for pitchers then this is definitely not gonna work for you but as of late it has certainly kept the big big innings down to a normal level

Re: Anybody else fast-forward thru pitching and have this problem?

UPDATE/NEW EXAMPLE: With my other season team, the Royals, I just finished the series against Baltimore, went 0-3, pitching gave up 8 runs, 7 runs, and 8 runs. The Orioles (Orioles!) hit 10 HR in the series and batted .311 for the series. Hochevar, my No. 1 starter, lost the last game of the series with 7ER in 4.0 IP. It's the Royals, yes, but that's pure crap.

There might be some truth to your catcher affecting pitches, as I have been starting Lucas May when I used to do Bryan Pena/Matt Treanor platoon. May's fielding ability is about 50 or so. Pena's looks like it's 65-75. I guess this would this impact effectiveness in the catcher calling pitches in FF, if that's how the game actually plays in FF?

I've said this forever. That's why RTTS is screwed up. When you "fast forward to your next appearance" it is 15-3.
