How big of a penalty do you take with GP on and guess wrong?

Does location give you a bonus or is it just the pitch? I am wondering, because I am about to take it off for online play. I'd like to know if there is a huge penalty though. I might just only use it for certain situations.

What are everyone's thoughts on it?

I believe I remember reading somewhere that guessing correctly did give you a boost. Don't recall if guessing wrong was detrimental or not.

Regardless, I feel like I hit better without it. I don't know if you ever notice this but, say I guess fastball high correctly, I tend to swing too early out of anticipation. Or even worse, I'll swing at a pitch way out of the strike zone just because I was ready for it to be right in the zone I selected.

Try "guessing" the pitches and locations without using the actual tool in the game. Might give you better results and it's a lot more in tune with what real hitters do.

You can see a visual representation of the penalty for guessing wrong if you turn on the Plate Coverage Indicator (the yellow circle). You'll see the circle shrink before the pitch if you guess one wrong, and it'll get even smaller if you miss both. That reflects your lessened chance of making solid contact.
