i feel like the cpu cheats when trying for a save

almost anytime you have less than a 2 run lead going into the top of the 9th or bottom, youll lose or never get a clean 1 2 3. past 4 games ive had neftali feliz, hes 99 ovr as a closer (a couple years down the road in my franchise). i throw a slider down and away that is out of the lower right side of the zone, and prado pulls it down the left field line for a double...????!??!! then i walk trout. strikeout of pujols, strikeout of hamilton. trumbo hits a hard liner to my ss and guess what, ERROR. ugh. then i get kendrick down 0-2 and throw a change way out of the zone down and he flips it to right for both runs to score and i lose.....

the other day i had 2 fielding errors in the bottom of the 9th and i have the fielding errors slider down to 1 because the game makes way too many. ugh

It's actually not just against CPU that's difficult to pitch in late innings. In this game you really need to have a mindset that every new pitcher coming in needs to be get on his groove in order to be effective. Watch closely for overall confidence and individual pitch command meter. Don't shy away from even replacing your closer when his confidence tanks.

I seem to struggle every year with my closers, and usually with several guys in my pen. This year, playing the Blue Jays, at one point in the 2nd half, I'd blown exactly 1/3rd of my save opportunities. I'd even gone to bullpen by committee, riding the "hot" hand to try and close games.

But in the final 50 games or so, for some reason I can't explain, I started to pitch very well with the pen and closer and from that point, I had very few blown saves and none at all in 15 playoff games.

If you would like more insight maybe you should do a quick search and read up on some of the many threads that's been posted on here. Do some people have issues with holding leads? Yes, but there's also plenty of us that have success with it. For example, in my current season my closer has 32 saves. So I guess my question is, does the AI perform differently on some people's games than others? Or is it an issue with the one who is holding the controller?

Maybe a more useful thread would have been, "Does anyone have any advice on how to hold a lead late in the game?" FYI, a quick search on that would pull up a couple fairly recent threads with some good information.

Dont quote me but I think Nomo mentioned a while ago blown saves are more than they should be compared to real MLB numbers for whats its worth BUT regardless of what anyone says if you play this game fair and even slider wise you will win and lose regardless of what your do skill or decision wise as the game is programmed to mimic real mlb You can especially see it in blown saves and starting pitcher stats with no decisions because of programming .
I have little issue with the final box score or stats but its the HOW it all unfolds I have a issue with and therefore wont have video baseball for the first time since the 80s unless 2k upgrades its graphics
As the show is just no fun for me and many who want a true interactive experience after 5 years of the same tweaked gameplay to make things just look more visually realistic
