    Shoulder Width

Anyone have a through line to any devs that could explain what shoulder width does please?

Theres no on screen skill effect, but does it affect your wingspan, or any attributes?

Or just generally have an in game effect?

I only ask because literally every inch counts when creating a player in 2k17.

        Body types bro. Body types

But seriously though it doesn't appear to have any impact on your skill caps.

It's simply one of the two things 2k has figured out how to let you edit from a visual standpoint.

Damn that sucks. so we can have wider shoulders but not higher or lower body fat %?

Surely its not hard to have like 5 generic body tone presets to pick from?

Was thinking it would only be changeable coz it'd impact the game.

We can only hope for next year.
For a few years now we seem to have hit a wall with only height, wingspan and shoulder length editable, from current players to CAPs to MyPlayers.

Here's hoping that enough of the community has expressed concern over body types in general - from every single player who had KD's body type last year now copy and pasted to a 154 lbs build, to all MyPlayers being the same - to encourage 2K to make some strides in this department for 2K18.

Everything else in the game is too far ahead at this point.

It bumps your wingspan up, you can see the number change.

So you go to shoulder width max it out and go back to your wingspan and the number changes? What if your wingspan was maxed out before you maxed out shoulder width can you go back and notice you gained some inches or anything at all? Thanks.

Yep even if you max out wingspan, shoulder width bumps it even further. I think like an extra inch.

are you a 100% sure? Got any screen shots? I believe you but... ya know... I mean it's ok if you don't have any screen shots but I would be really happy if you could confirm this somehow.

Just make a second account and do another prelude, I've got no proof.

Shoulder width affects your standing reach. If you increase shoulder width keeping the wingspan fixed, it means you have shorter arms. If you decrease shoulder width keeping the wingspan fixed, it means you have longer arms. It will affect your blocking and I believe it is better to have less shoulder width with max wingspan for better blocking.

I don't have a proof for that but I copied my answer to your question from the other thread:

Source is just simple math. Suppose your wingspan is 80 inches.

If you have a shoulder width of 24 inches then your arm length is 28 inches.
If you have a shoulder width of 20 inches then your arm length is 30 inches.

It creates a difference of 2 inches for your standing reach.

                              This.

Max Wingspan, longer body, best for Centers that protect the rim
Normal Wingspan, shorter body, best for PG's that love the dribble and not get the ball stolen away.
