    Has anyone stuck with 2K8?

Hello fellas. After not buying an NBA game since the Dreamcast days I bought 2K10 on release day. I just felt guilty for paying $65.00 for a game that didn't have me that excited to play it. After selling it, I still want a virtual NBA fix.

After doing some research, I've found that 2K8 appears to be a solid game. I'm thinking about purchasing it but I was wondering how it holds up today. Has anyone stuck with it? Would I be able to somehow get a hold of some '09-'10 rosters?

    Thanks, my friends.

*BTW, my main reason for giving up 2K10 was the control issue. I've never played a game with such clunky controls. To be specific, IsoMotion.

Heck nah, 2k10 is light years ahead of 2k8 IMO after you learn the controls. I haven't had any issues. Isomotion was difficult at first but I perform every move at will now. And the patch will fix some main AI issues (backcourt, offensive 3 seconds and alleys in traffic)

Re: Has anyone stuck with 2K8?

I just purchased my copy and played my first game tonight and I must say I am unbelievably disappointed in the game. It felt like I was fighting the left stick all night. Having to force the control stick to get a guy to where I wanted him to be. Terrible control, camera was not smooth at all, seemed to be stuttering.

I have played the 2k series exclusively since 2005 and I cannot believe how crappy this game played. I am totally in shock and wish I wouldn't have spent the money on this game.

Don't even get me started on the menu interface. Who in the heck designed this ridiculous menu system? This is undoubtedly the worst 2k basketball game I have seen, ever.

What a big mistake I made today, don't make the same mistake I have made. Go out and rent the game before you plunk down $65 bucks for this game.

You just have to get used to the way the game plays. Don't fight it and don't abuse turbo on offense or defense. Slow down. On offense if you tap the left stick to the right or left they will switch hands to that direction. On defense I would recommend you put your defensive assist at 10-15. It is in the controller setting. Learn to use Icon passing and Icon switch on defense.

2k made the defensive stance automatic this year and if you don't understand how the game plays, it can be a pain in the neck and can feel like you are fighting the left stick.(I think they did this because of cheesers running all over the place on defense). Positioning is very important on d. But it took me 1 week to get used to this game. I also made some slight slider adjustments. This is a great basketball game. It just has some bugs like the my player, frame rate on 360 (i'm on PS3), and they are some bugs in association mode. The game is really good without the patch offline. But hopefully the patch can fix these bugs.

I don't play online, but if you are a online player then this may not be the gm for you.

Is that even relevant? It's his opinion and he's entitled to it without ridicule. To the original poster, I don't think you will be able to get any roster updates, if you're really serious about it I'll pop mine in tomorrow to see if it updates. I would doubt it though, the season is over so you'd have to check to see if there are any downloadable rosters which I wouldn't think 2k would continue to hold on their servers (for good/logical reason).
I'm bored of sigs. See irony.

Go to My Controller Settings and lower defensive assistance.

I was very disappointed in the game at first because I felt like I really couldn't control myself on defense. But I found that slider and now things are back in order. If you play the game a little more, you'll get the feel and appreciate all the little things they have added. I'm even appreciate the menu now.

But this is faaaaaaar from being a bad game.

What can I say? I still avidly play NFL 2K5.

Does anyone else not have an incredibly easy time getting to the rim in 2K10? I don't mean using IsoMotion. I mean just running around and getting to the rim because of lackluster CPU AI. I was just disappointed in, not only the AI's defense on my team (which I corrected almost completely with coach settings and just using one defender per possession), but also the CPU's defensive AI.

Also, the jump shooting (and mid range game as a whole it seems) seems pretty flawed this year. There is a whole thread about it here. Personally, I hate points in the paint. I hate dunk/layup/backdoor cut fests. How is the midrange game in 2K8?

If you get 2K8 there will be so many problems you see that are fixed in 2K10 that it makes it almost pointless to go back to 2K8. 2K10 is a good game man and don't forget the patch is dropping soon. It might have even dropped today if the other thread is right.
