Perfect Golf - The Game
Immersive 3D Golf Game provides a new take on golf - Coming Winter 2013
Perfect Golf is a new 3D Golf Game that will change the marketplace for golf simulation. Designed to be multi-platform the game will interface with any and all input devices from a launch monitor to a mouse and will work on all platforms from PC to Mobile and Web. It's content driven model will reignite the simulator and PC golf markets that have been stagnant and lacking in innovation for years. With a fully integrated design tool (see our Course Forge product and supporting Course Forge Converter) golfers will have the ability to design and develop their own content. The game will come in a veriety of editions including versions for PC, MAC, Console and Mobile devices. In addition the Simulator Edition will be focused specifically on creating an immersive experience without all the GUI elements required for a PC golf game. Within each version there will be a variety of play modes which will give the player the ability to free roam around within our 3D environments either by walking or riding in a cart, although fast play which will take you to your ball will always be available for those looking for a quick experience.
For those loking to entertain themseleves for a shorter period of time one of the major focuses of PErfect Golf will be the "Mini Game". Not everyone has the time to play a full 18 holes of golf but wants to have some fun. Enter the Mini Game. Short games built off the concept that "Practice Can Be Fun" will present the player with a series of challenges. Have you ever wondered what it would take skip a ball across a lake and onto the green - nearest the pin takes all or wondered whether you could hit an island green three shots in a row, or thought it would be fun hit rescue shots from difficult positions where each player gets to pick the starting position and end position on the course.
Another key component of Perfect Golf is social. After all golf is a social sport designed to be played with friends. Perfect Golf will be cross platform meaning that just because you use a pc and your friend uses a mac you will be able to play against each other, and that remains true even if he is on a console and you are on a mobile device. To support even more social interaction we will be allowing communities to establish country clubs. The purpose of the country club is to promote community clubs. A community leader may elect to establish a country club which requires a portal fee or they could have a community membership. The country club owner will then be able to create a list of events during the year that the country club will play. They will be able to create custom events with the MOP designer, combine mini games and full golf events together into a schedule. This schedule will be entered using a calendar on the portal. Owner will be able to specify conditions for each event, cut?, prize money, ranking points, Player of the year points, whether guests are allowed, etc. Country Clubs can be either private or public, if they are private then players can only join with an invitation, otherwise players can join any public club or multiple clubs. Each time a player registers for an event they are entered into that event and will appear on the leaderboard. The owner will determine for how long each event is open. Player’s handicaps will be determined by their country club rounds only.
Not interested in playing online with friends then perhaps one of our career modes is for you. The concept of a career exists in both an offline and an online mode. In the offline mode the player is basically competing against a set of computer generated opponents. The GUI should display the prayers progress and the next event to be played. It should have the goals to progress to the next level. For example lets assume the player starts off as an amateur in Year 1 age 21. The player has a choice of several amateur events during the year, the British amateur, the Mid Amateur, the US Amateur, the Public Links, the Asian amateur and the European Amateur. A player starts off with a certain amount of cash. Each event has an entry fee, and the goal is to do well enough in the events to gain a sponsor or two. The player has an individual sponsor, a bag sponsor a shirt sponsor a club sponsor a hat sponsor and a shoe sponsor. Sponsors can provide cash, endorsements that provide free equipment etc. Eventually the player will have enough cash to join a mini tour. From there he can progress to larger tours like the buy.com or the euro challenge tour. From there he can eventually join a main tour through achievement or through qualifying tournament. Each of these costs money on a weekly basis, eventually he may hire a caddie who will help him in tournaments. The key is for the player to earn enough money to keep on going and progress his career. In the online career mode rather than competing against computer players the player is competing in a massively multiplayer online career mode. All online players start at the same level and compete with each other for the prize money, sponsors. Players may be able to use their earnings to sponsor other players. Players can buy sponsors in the online portal who will provide them with annual income to support their careers. These online modes are still being developed.
Real Time Physics - One of the major problems with golf games in the past has been the mathematical nature of most of the physics. As a result we have built our physics and game engine around real time forces which means that we can continue to affect the ball after it has been hit. So when players are playing in a breezy, gusty or windy environment players will not know the result as soon as the ball is hit. This brings to simulation golf one of the key ingredients of real golf - That moment of anticipation after you hit the shot and you are wondering where it is going to go. Will a puff of wind knock the ball down into the lake, you will have to wait and see -

Re: Perfect Golf
First PC golf game that's grabbed my attention since Tiger Woods 06! I'll be watching it for sure. I know the team behind it knows how to create lifelike courses, but I'll have to see for myself that it will have the gameplay to make me want to traverse their courses. I'm already a little apprehensive about the distant swing camera angle. I like being closer to the golfer to get more of a sense of being there. Their swing camera is about three times further away from the golfer than Tiger 14, which is almost too far away for my tastes. I love the proximity of Tiger 10 and 11 in this sense.
But we'll see, I like the philosophy behind the game and I'll be surprised if the gameplay isn't at least adequate enough to lure me in for at least a while. There's so much they can do with this engine, or so it seems...Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

According to their old forums they are exploring many different views for golfing including a first person view where youd actually look down at the ball!http://pcfriars1213.blogspot.com/ - Coaching Career of Ed Cooley College Hoops 2k8Comment

Re: Perfect Golf
I had not heard this... that would be fantastic if they fill this need. I know I enjoyed the aspect of using the Move with the PS3 version of Tiger Woods 13, and its first person view, although I didn't like swinging the Move without a club attachment for long before it started feeling really awkward. I'd have to see how a first person view would look with a mouse/thumbstick controller (would this franchise consider something like thumbstick control?) interface before I'd know how it would work for me. I do know I'd get more out of it of the swing camera view was along the lines of Tiger 10 or 11, set at a head high level.
Thanks for passing this information along! I'm going to register at the new site and join in the discussion there. It's good to get juiced about a PC golf game again

Re: Perfect Golf
Sounds almost too good to be true. Back in January the Perfect Golf team failed by a long way to achieve their kickstart campaign target and everything went quiet. Now they're talking about an end of year release. What happened???Comment

Re: Perfect Golf
Bumping this because it appears there is some movement on the Course Forge being available. It has been added to the downloads section but an error occurs when actually trying to buy/DL. Looking at the videos, I have no idea how the game will play, but the Course Forge might be fun to play with on its own...Comment

They definitely seem to be making some progress. I am hoping something is released soon. Unity by itself is impossible to use so I hope course forge and the other terrain tools help us outhttp://pcfriars1213.blogspot.com/ - Coaching Career of Ed Cooley College Hoops 2k8Comment

Re: Perfect Golf
So I've watched a few of the videos over at the dev's website. Am I interpreting the promise of this game correctly? Is it possible, for example, to pull geographic/topographic data from real world locations, have the game use that data to create terrain and then allow you to create a golf course on top of that terrain? The scanning and texturing with data video using the Grand Canyon got my curiosity up. After working from that video, would it be possible to create a golf course in the Grand Canyon? I'm still not sure I completely follow the whole Unity/Course Forge relationship, but the prospect of what could be done with these tools looks fascinating.Comment

Re: Perfect Golf
It seems as if Perfect Golf has long been forgotten, and the course forge technology, really has no practical use for us as a consumer. This program is intriguing however if used in upcoming iterations of a game like TWPGA or maybe another title that is in production. Seems like the mapping technology is second to none and the ability to upload data from Google Maps and have CF replicate it is incredible.Last edited by JODYE; 06-25-2013, 10:41 AM.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

According to the site: Immersive 3D Golf Game provides a new take on golf - Coming Winter 2013
They've gone through quiet stretches for weeks and months at a time over there. The site looks low budget, and the following seems to be less than miniscule.
Even so, I hope it turns out as good as it looks and is promised. Or.. turns out at all.Comment
