Sean Couturier scores another Hat Trick this post-season
NHL.com -- In a series that has been pretty defensive, it was fun to see a high-scoring affair between the Flyers and the Whalers. Between the goal changes, to highlight goals it was a game that reminded Flyers fans of that 2012 playoff series vs the Penguins. Sean Couturier added three more goals and has scored 15 goals this postseason. He is only four goals shy of the Flyers record, held by Reggie Leach(19 Goals), that he reasonably could reach. "It's not something I'm focused on, but I'd be lying if I said I haven't thought of it." "Coots" told the media. The game was very much a back and forth tilt and if Hartford hadn't taken two bad penalties late in the third that allowed the Flyers to pull away, we may have seen overtime hockey. The Flyers are one win away from a Stanley Cup birth, while Hartford needs a strong showing in front of the Whalers' Nation to force another game.
OFFENSE: The Flyers are scoring at a ridiculous pace, averaging 4.06 GPG(65 Goals in 16 Games) along with scoring the most powerplay goals(17 goals in 75 opportunities). Sean Couturier leads all players with 15 goals, and some are wondering if he can break the Flyers record of 19 goals by Reggie Leach back in 1976. The Flyers have four other players, as well, that have scored 5+ goals this post season. Vancouver meanwhile has made it through the Western Conference scoring 55 goals in 20 games(2.75GPG), but are scoring powerplay goals with better efficiency than the Flyers(10/42). Bo Horvat leads the Canucks in goals, while Loui Eriksson leads the team in Assists and Points. ADVANTAGE: PHILADELPHIA, too much scoring with too much depth.
DEFENSE: Despite playing four more games than the Flyers the Canucks have only allowed 42 goals(2.10GAPG) and have are killing penalties at an 87.3% rate. Their blueline has been a stingy bunch, led by Alexander Edler, Ben Hutton, and Christopher Tanev. Every defenseman on the Canucks, except Troy Stecher(-1) is either Even or a + in +/-. They will also chip in the occasional goal, but it isn't too common. Six goals combined between four defenseman. The Flyers are led by Ivan Provorov and his 12 points. Travis Sanheim has awoken as well with 10 points. The Flyers lost Radko Gudas in Game 6 and he is expected to be out for the remainder of the playoffs. Brandon Manning has been called upon to take his place on the third pairing with Samuel Morin. All the Flyers defenseman are above +4 on the +/- stat. ADVANTAGE: Philadelphia, even without Gudas this is a backline that is still among the best.
GOALTENDING: Anthony Stolarz is still taking the league by storm. He weathered the Whalers in the Conference Finals and is the league leader in Goals Against Average and Wins, but his opponent, Ryan Miller has been just as stellar. Miller leads the league with a 94.5SV% and three shutouts. This could be the deciding factor. ADVANTAGE: Too close to call. Both of these keepers can and will steal games for their teams
NHL.com -- Ryan Miller got his 4th shutout of the postseason and the Canucks lit Anthony Stolarz up for 4 goals as the Canucks won Game 3, 4-0 to take a 2-1 Series lead. Brock Boeser got things started on an early powerplay goal, while Ryan Miller stopped shot after shot. Nikita Tryamkin picked a great time to score his 1st Career Postseason goal to give the Canucks a lead with a rocket from the point that beat Stolarz high to the blocker side. Sven Baertschi added one more before the 2nd intermission, though the Flyers tried to plead their case that Baertschi interfered with Stolarz. The Flyers tried to get something going, but the Vancouver defense was physical all night long, laying out the Flyers for 31 hits. Granlund added a fourth goal midway through the third and now the Vancouver Canucks move into Game 4 with a chance to go up 3-1 on the Flyers.

Scott Laughton's OT Winner Has the Flyers One Win Away
Laughton's shot in Overtime beats Ryan Miller low
NHL.com -- Scot Laughton scored 2:41 into Overtime to give the Flyers a 3-2 victory in Game 5 and a 3-2 Series lead. In a defensive duel, the two teams could only muster two goals. The Flyers had to rely on their powerplay(2/5) to get their goals. Sean Couturier scored his 18th late in the third period to tie the game and force overtime. Meanwhile Travis Konecny scored in the 1st period. Loui Erikkson got the scoring started early with a wrister that handcuffed Stolarz. Speaking of Stolarz, just 48 hours after being shelled for four goals, the young goalie bounced back to make 27 saves. Ryan Miller was equally good, stopping 30 shots, but allowed the game winner in OT.

Still gonna abide by my rules. Game Six will be simmed, but if we are winning with less than two minutes I will jump in.
NHL.com -- The Philadelphia Flyers Stanley Cup drought is over! 43 years Flyers fans have had their hearts broken, dreams crushed year after year. Whether it was the clash with the Edmonton Oilers in the 1985 and 1987 Cup Finals, or the horrible 1997 sweep at the hands of the Red Wings, or even worse the Kane Goal in 2010. At long last the Flyers are the best hockey team in the NHL. The Flyers doubled up the Canucks 6-3 in Game 6 to clinch the Cup. Sean Couturier scored an empty net goal to tie the Flyers Post Season record with 19 goals, while Travis Konecny was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy(Many were surprised and felt Anthony Stolarz should have won). The two teams played to a scoreless draw in the 1st period and much of the 2nd, before Marian Hossa scored his 1st goal of the postseason, as did Brandon Manning and Scottie Upshall to shock the hometown fans. Loui Eriksson scored just 1:00 into the third to try to get the Canucks back in the game, but Jakub Voracek would counter just three minutes later. Brandon Sutter would get one back, but with Bo Horvat in the box for slashing, Jeff Skinner would score his 8th of the playoff. Loui Eriksson again answered, but it was too little too late.

Man that was a surprising run. I didn't expect us to challenge, especially after Mason crapped the bed. Washington and the Rangers being knocked out plus the Penguins not making the playoffs made it an easier path for us.
