Did are first test run with this. With this year's game this is playing amazingly well. This will def be one of the best maddens to do the expansion franchise with.

Also if your on PSN I re edited the newest roster. I fixed the known issue with QB traits. All sense pressure has been made to ideal and high motors turned on. Every QB in the game. Just search my PSN L_SiQ_L

I love doing expansion teams in Madden, been doing them since at least Madden 12, but although I agree a lot with your process I still disagree on a few points, so just wanted to give my 2 cents (hope that's ok). I follow the 2002 expansion draft closely.

1. Each team list 5 players they are willing to give up. To find those 5 players from each team I have to put myself in their GM's position and think as if I am giving up these players. I mean, am I willing to give up a 24-year old WR at 84 OVR (J.Gordon)? I don't think so. So here are my criterias (and yes, your first roster is going to be beyond crap!)
- No players on their rookie contracts
- No player under the age of 26 (unless they're considered a draft bust by their team)
- No players over 75OVR
- No players with only 1 year left of their contract (actual limitation from the 2002 exp draft)
- Only 1 player from each team with more than 10 years experience (actual limitation from the 2002 exp draft)
- Keep away from a team's best option in a position. If a team only has 2 players at OLB, one 75OVR and one at 68OVR, you wouldn't give up your best option.
- As mentioned, your first roster is going to be crap! But that's the challenge I like

2. Selecting players;
- When you pick one player, the team you pick from are allowed to remove one of the remaining four (just like in the 2002 exp draft). Again, you have to think as that team's GM and make the realistic and best decision for that team, not your own. If you pick two players from the same team, you can not choose anyone else from that team.
- Select 30 players or 38% of the salary cap (I usually just go for 30 players. You're not getting any expensive contracts with the garbage players you're choosing)

3. 2015 NFL Draft: This can easily be exploited which feels like cheating to me and is a big no no. You can look at the 2015 draft, find the beste player from each round and pick them; what are the chances an expansion is going to find the best player from each round? My main problem with this however is the following scenario:

If I'm replacing the Buccs i.e. but I don't want Winston, Winston will be sent to the team I'm stealing my 1st round pick from. So if I take Falcons' 1st round pick, OLB Beasley, it means Atlanta will use their 1st round pick on Winston, another QB. I don't find that realistic.

So, what I do is that I keep all the draft picks the team I'm replacing made in the 2015 NFL draft. If that includes some bad picks, then I just find that all the more realistic.

4. Fill out the roster from the free agency pool, but again, no one over 75 OVR.

I'm not sure how you get a 75 man roster in the game if you want to start in pre-season, so I might have to modify my rules somewhat when I get this tested out properly.

All in all, your team is going to be really bad to begin with, but that's the challenge I like. I've gone 0-16 the first season before and it just makes that first win that much sweeter!

You should take my roster that I built and tweak to what you are speaking of. It is always better to get different takes on certain things. This is one I would be interested.

As for a player like Josh Gordon the house rule with him or a blackmon is they sit out the entire year.

Also I would prob have to players where overall was not a issue. As example of Jamie Sharper who was a 87 in madden that year and tony boselli who was a 94 ovr. They also had a strong C and RE and two mid level CB's

Also what I do with the NFL draft. I only pick players that would make the most sense. Example falcons beasley I would only swap him with another end. So you dont have a trickle down effect with players. Also this year with Winston and Marcus I made a house rule they both are off limits. That being both of those teams have needed a franchise QB for along time. I dont want to take that from them.

Most of these I should have added into my first page. But I assume when someone does something like this they have a set of there own house rules to strictly follow. The best ovr team I have made is 73

The main thing is to find what you think works and is fun and stick to that. I love doing expansion teams and they way the Madden CFM is built you have to have a lot of house rules to make it fun in my opinion. Great thread by the way. I hope more people try expansion teams. It's so much fun!
