Charles Davis Needs to Talk Less

I love the new announcer crew. Gaudin is great on it, he's got that Joe Buck kind of voice and it feels like a real broadcast. But Charles Davis' analysis goes way too long.

If you get a play off and he's still going, it doesn't matter how big the play is... he's still talking about something random. I have gotten delay of games because I waited until Davis stopped talking because I wanted to hear the play's call from Gaudin.

First update needs to cut Davis' script significantly. Other than that I love the new broadcasting team.

    No Simms = Greatness

CD rambles some, but I'm fine with it.

He talks quite a bit irl. I'm a big davis fan, i really appreciate him putting in the time to make all this work so well.

Anything is better than Simms or Collinsworth, two guys who made me want to pour acid in my ears.

But I do kind of agree with the OP, Davis commentary can sometimes run way too long. It's not as big of an issue as it was with Simms and his monologues that were longer than War and Peace but it can still run over more than 1 play.

Re: Charles Davis Needs to Talk Less

The issue to me is that he's usually not done with his line before the next play is already over, so you end up with him talking about making a decision to run or pass on 3rd after you've already run your 3rd down play. They need an interruption system.

I have zero issues with his commentary cause that's how he is in real life. Also, it adds more immersion and it's like the real thing when their talk carries over into the next play. Also NBA 2k commentary team does this ALOT and it sounds great there too.

Actually the problem (I had) before was that Phil Simms just wasn't a very likable personality, and the same few lines used again and again. With the first ever (to my knowledge) Audio update, hopefully things will be much more diverse now.

I love the color commentary thus far. I have a few gripes though. I have forgotten a couple of them at the moment but they'll come back to me. The one I cannot forget about however, is the commentators not recognizing the game situation when it comes to a qb taking kneels to run the clock off for the W. They ramble like the game is still on the line and completely breaks immersion after having a such great game called. If EA could fix this issue, the game would end on a good note and not a very bad one. Can somebody please tweet this? It should be a VERY easy fix and seems pretty important considering its some of the last lines delivered for the team. Again, ending on a good note would leave a positive lasting impression. Right now it's a negative one.

Actually I was just going to mention how much they DO recognize game situations like this.

I'm not doubting you at all, I believe it has issues.

Okay so apperently they talk about taking a knee but also talk about the down and distance. I just played a game and this time they did a really good job noticing the game situation and saying they expect to see a kneel down here after taking into account the score, timeouts and clock left. I'm not sure what happened the first couple of times I was in that situation.

I'm thinking that if it requires you to take over a minute off the clock with 3 kneel downs and you blew the opponent out so they won't even bother using the timeouts they have, they might not talk about taking kneel downs. I do remember the earlier games I played were blowouts with 3 kneel downs. This past game was a close one with like 20 second left and only required one kneel down. I'll look more into this with fu ture games.

I would like to see less chatter and more play results. especially names of tacklers. Also simed to year two they don ;t know rookie names even if common. Also half time guys knowns more rookie names. Hope they update this.
