Re: Player Body Types need to be far more varied for Madden '18

The problem I see with madden player models from a anatomical standpoint is the hinge joints where the bicep meets the elbow and the hamstring meets the poplateal region behind the patella( knee cap). These areas are way to narrow causing a very unnatural looking body that is even more prevalent when the players are moving. These areas should be thicker and the transition should be slightly gradual from one Anatomical region to the next.
If madden corrected these two areas then that alone would enhance the look of the players.

Player Body Types need to be far more varied for Madden '18

Take a look at Greg Olsen in one of the leaked videos. He has a somewhat unique 'tall, slender, muscular' body type. They nailed it in 18. I haven't looked at him lately in 17 to see if it's truly that different, but the clips I saw of him in 18 look spot on, and I see that body type as not quite being well 'shaped' in madden before. Madden seems to get the fat people just fine. Lol. The overweight linemen have looked great for 20 years!!! . But, again, it's the slender muscular types they've missed.

So yeah, I think I'm seeing a nice variety of body types in 18 that helps differentiate players. And, that's probably partially (if not all) helped out by frostbite. I've been saying this b4 about FIFA 17. Player models and faces look amazing in that game. So, I expect similar in madden, now.

The body types seem to look a lot better this year.

That bent knee poster is somebody brought up that is bothersome. I wonder tweaking or redoing the "skeletal" structure of models would require a bunch of adjustments elsewhere with player interaction, collision detetction, physic etc. Perhaps that why they haven't re-done it yet

I suggest EA improve this by implemening the following for Madden 18:

Preset options to form a base body type:
- Base body type categories: Skinny, Normal, Large, Fat
- Sub body type templates: top-heavy, bottom-heavy, normal
- Muscle defintion types: Ripped, Normal, flabby

Slider adjusted options for further customization:
- Upper Torso vs Leg length ratio
- Arms (width, depth and Length)
- Shoulders (width, depth)
- Chest (depth, width)
- Abdomen (width, depth)
- Thighs (Width, depth)
- Calves (Width, depth)
- Feet (length)

With these options - along with height and weight adjustments... at the hands of the developers and users...the visual, on-field realism of the player models would be off the charts...far exceeding that of this year's models. Coupled with improved player movement and interaction, Madden 18 would be leaps and bounds more visually impressive on the field than any of its predecessors.
Still needs to happen. Would be a huge upgrade

Me too, but simply giving the same player modeling options available before starting a CFM to in CFM would help a great deal with this issue.

Oh, just realized I got suckered into participating in a Necromancy ritual.

They could add arm definition textures/types with a gallery similar to the one they use for face selection. This would be similar to the CAW features WWE2k. Doesn't seem like much but if implemented would add an immense level of detail and variety amongst player models thus giving the graphics even more realism.

Even worse. I realized today that I had already replied to this ancient thread.
