Calling play dead glitch/Butt fumble

Anyone notice that sometimes when you recover a fumble, the play is called dead at the spot of the recovery even though nobody has touched you? I was playing in my divisional playoff game with the Falcons against the Packers. I was leading the game 17-14 and ended up having to punt with about 15 seconds left. The punt returner let the ball hit the 5 yrd line,expecting it to go into the endzone but it bounced forward, hit one of the Packers right on the butt(hence the butt fumble reference in the thread), my guy recovered the ball and I ran out the clock from there. The thing is, I was never touched before my recovery nor after recovering the ball yet, the official ruled me down at the spot of the recovery of the ball. Just a little thing that will hopefully be fixed in Madden 18.

I've noticed it happen a few times. Must of gotten screwed up by an update because it wasn't doing it the whole time.

You can't return a muffed punt. So if the team you're kicking too touches it but doesn't actually possess the ball, it becomes dead wherever the kicking team recovers.

If it's in the last minutes of a half, that's an actual rule.

No other player on the team is allowed to advance a fumble in the last two minutes.
