Amazon Pre-Order Physical Copy?

My buddy had to cancel his and went with Best Buy. He has the gamers club, so I am not sure why he didn't do this to begin with. Amazon, or EA for Amazon, seems to have butchered this launch.

I assume it all has to do with a battle between EA and Amazon, most likely due to other stores complaining that allowing Amazon to offer release day delivery with the Prime discount gives them something close to a monopoly. So with EA under pressure from Walmart etc., maybe Amazon simply isn't allowed to offer release day delivery. They have the same issue with Disney; I don't think you ever could pre-order Rogue One for release day, for instance. Regardless, it's frustrating as a consumer for all kinds of reasons, not the least of which is that we can't get a straight answer. One thing is certain - there's no way this is some sort of glitch or oversight. If it were, they would have corrected it ages ago after receiving customer questions and complaints bringing it to their attention.

I ordered standard edition (not GOAT) and after I contacted them via online chat and asked about release day shipping, they said they don't do that anymore, but that they would waive shipping for the fastest time available (1 day). Maybe that will help you guys.

I still think it's dictated by certain companies/ games. I just checked GT Sport as a completely random example, and sure enough, it had the blurb saying "Want to receive this on release day? Just select free two-day shipping at checkout" (for Prime members obviously). It's especially frustrating with a game like Madden 18 since the best case scenario, even with the 1-day upgrade, is Monday instead of Friday.

Edit:: actually guy above me is right, it's certain games that aren't delivered on realease day.

Same scenario as you, ordered Goat from Amazon. I get an error. The download only shows the standard madden game, although the purchase records are correct.

Eh cancelled my GOAT too since the order populated for Thursday. Guess I'll just purchase digitally. Pointing the finger at EA on this one.
