Does anyone have any tips for passing? I never go a game without throwing a pick or two. How do you do back shoulder passes? When a receiver is running a post route, do I have to push the left stick to the left so if a Db is playing man on him, he wont pick it off?

Re: Any tips for passing in Madden 13?
I've found this year the ability to put the ball into space is not only good but its near required in a lot of cases.
Like you said for a post route. I find that putting the ball in front of the WR a bit (using left stick to lead) and up (so he has to jump for the catch) is 10X safer and more reliable than throwing the ball directly to him.
It prevents the possibility of the tailing CB to make an easy play on the ball and puts it in a spot where your WR has the chance to go up and make the big play.
From what I've seen the use of the left stick is pretty close to 1 to 1. The ball from what I can tell goes pretty much where you point it to (within a certain threshold).
Try practicing throwing the ball at the back corner of the endzone a bit and u'll get a hang of itComment

Passing is extremely easy this year. Ive been plaing since 99, and it's just so easy to throw 75-80% completion this year, and I've never been too good at passing. Just don't throw into coverage, the throw away button, or even a check down are there for a reasonComment

Why you even attempt a back shoulder throw on a fade route, I understand curls, and comebacks.......Comment

M2M can be easier to pass against in some ways, because they do not have a defender dropping into a zone to cover the curl and out routes....So the best thing to practice, initially and IMO, is to go against some zone defenses where the LB's are either dropping in a yellow or purple zone coverage to the sidelines....This gives practice of watching linebackers from the snap and learning not to throw the curl or out route too soon just to have a LB dropping in the zone to pick you off....
Also watch the MLB dropping into a deep center zone, that can kill and, for me, I have difficulty, still, at getting the lob correct on a consistent basis and the damn MLB cuts my pass.....Comment

To be honest, it's all about the play calling. I've played with the Dolphins so far under rookie Ryan Tannenhill and I have to say, once you understand a defense and actually think like a live football game than it can become very easy. Think of it like this, Reggie Bush runs a stretch play for 7 yards on first down. It's now 2nd and 3 and typically a lot of people would do a short pass or run play to try and pick up the first down, which is what defenses think. So, why not try a play action pass to try and get a big gain? It's a win win, if it succeeds then it makes your running attack even easier, which then opens up your passing game, and if it's incomplete than you only have to deal with a third and three, which is quite manageable. Running quick slants and small to medium routes through the middle of the field will help you improve your vision and learn when and when not to throw it. Think simple plays at first, and then later on the game go for your more difficult routes.Comment

It's mainly about where you place the ball and lead the receivers.
At first i was struggling too. Throwing over 15 picks a season.
But then i adjusted. I'm trying to think of an easy to explain example...
Say with a post route? I used to push forward/up on the stick to lead the receiver. Don't do this, the safety or corner will 9 times out of 10 cut the route and pick you off. Instead, lead to the left (if the post is coming from the right side to the left side of the field) then you're receiver will break off his route slightly and adjust to the ball.
Also a lot of my picks came from quick outs. The route was getting jumped by a corner or safety because i wasn't leading the receiver enough or i wasn't putting enough touch on the bball. Another thing, if it's a deep out or comeback, if you're quick enough you can select the receiver mid throw and adjust to catch the ball ahead of the defender by pressing Y.
Hope these tips help. I now rarely throw more than 10 picks a season.Comment

A passing primer...
Top sports betting sites and apps available in all US states. Best offshore sportsbooks with huge bonuses and better odds than US apps.
To be an effective passer, you have to be able to recognize fronts and coverages pre-snap. You want to come to the line with enough time on the clock to make your pre-snap read, adjust by calling a hot if you see a blitz coming, or change one or more routes based on what the defense is showing you. By the time you snap the ball, you want to have a pretty good idea of where you want to go with the ball. Most primary routes in the game are part of a passing pattern of multiple routes designed to clear defenders away from the primary route, or to attack an area of a zone defense to make them choose which route to defend.
The best way to attack man to man coverage is to use a lot of breaking routes, crossing routes, etc... the key to beating man coverage is the receiver's ability to get separation. Using total control passing to put the ball where the defender can't make a play on it may be what gives the receiver that separation that he needs.
The key to attacking zones, as mentioned before, is to take what the D gives you by calling plays with multiple route patterns designed to make them choose what to defend. They jump one route, throw to the other.
Also, practice mode is your friend. hope this helps, good luck.Comment

It depends on how good your receivers release is. Or if the corners are pressing or backed off.
I use a lot of curls and comebacks if the corners ain't pressing.
Also try using the pump fake to specific receivers, it works a treat with curl flats. Pump fake to the receiver going to the flat, most times the defender either in a buzz/purple zone or man will bite, leaving the primary receiver open for a comeback/curl.Comment
