Running the ball with speedy backs on All Madden setting

I play a franchise with the ravens and Jamal Lewis got old and washed up so I let him go. With that said i drafted a RB in the first round of the draft and his speed is on 97 with good acceleration and agility(all the goodies). But....Im use to running with Jamal punding out 4 and 5 yards a carry(and sometimes get lucky and break one of those 5 yards gains for a 40 yard TD) and always falling forward when i get stuffed in the backfield. But with this new guy i cant get pass the Line of scrimmage...never break tackles or fall forward. And the juke seems to never work(his juke rationg is 97)....they still just knock me around. My O-line avg around 95 rating and still trouble. Basically, I just want to know if speedy backs have their place in the game, and what gameplay tips would you guys have for me if they do have a place.

My only advice would be to not utilize his speed until the gaps in the defense develop. If you speed burst immediately after the snap, you aren't giving your offensive line those extra few moments to create some holes.

I tend to speed burst all the time, and as a result, I suck at running the football. I think if you go slower initially, more develops and you have more to work with.

Thats the thing. Im use to playing with jamal lewis and i never hit speed burst until i see an opening. mosty right bumper to protect ball while waiting for a gap in defence, then speed burst if its really big hole or truck stick if i get a LB or something. I try to do the same with the fast guy except using juke and spin instead of trucking once i find a hole. liek one tap and he falls back, lol. Seems weird too because his trucking skill is 81...not 99 like jamal lewis but it seem liek a 81 truck skill he should be able to hold his own.

            i agree with jimp...
madden has always had it programmed into the game where if you hit speed burst the d will almost immediately shed blocks and lock onto you the runner; its cheesy but i guess that's their way of making the game realistic. so just learn to watch for holes and running lanes and you'll be fine. now that i think about it, backs have to develop this skill along with patience in order to bust big runs, so i guess on some level EA simulates this to some degree.

hate...............giving..............EA......... ......credit...............for.............anythin g.............when.........this game still has so many holes in it (360 and PS3)....

I never speed burst as soon as i get the ball tho, i wait for the holes to open and they never do, lol....with that said I think i found out what it was. I think the overall rating of the back makes the O-line block according to RB skill. I still have mike anderson and for some reason he is a 93 overall...and the holes just be big as all hell for him. and as soon as i throw the rookie in with his 85 rating the D just start to shed blocks like snake skin.

Run sweeps and counters (especially counters) and bust him to the outside. I do this with Brian Calhoun on the Lions and have pretty good success. I pound Kevin Jones, then bring in Calhoun for a change of pace (though Jones is pretty quick too).
Quit making your stupid YouTube videos and start playing the game.

that might be true; another example of EA's asinine take on football. i also think the back's run block recognition (something like that) might affect the holes opening up for him too. who knows with EA. it would be nice if they would describe what the attributes/ratings do and then allow the user to edit those ratings according to their descretion.

Yep, i just tested it again and the holes are definitely there for Mike Anderson...looks like Mike will be the starter for the rest of this season at the age of 36, rofl. Hopefully by then my rookie will have some RB vision for holes, lol
