    360 version, no formation substitutions?

I looked everywhere and couldn't find this basic option.

Is there a way to substitute players out in certain packages? For instance, as the steelers, I want my outside linebackers to replace the DE's in the Dime package. Also, NT Casey Hampton comes off the field in the Dime. Any ideas?

This is for the 360 version.

I also want to be able to substitute Davenport in for Parker on certain formations

If you ever want to feel better about yourself, visit an online forum. You will find poor spelling, poor grammar, poor logic and complete irrationality in practically every thread. What a world...

I think you can only do it w/ the package substitutions at the play call screen.

i think he means when you can assign certain players to specific packages. ex, have a different OL'man whose better at pass blocking play in formations you like to pass out of...
I am glad I got the Buell- I love riding it, I love the oddball looks I get on the road- I love people asking "What IS that thing?" I love flying into a corner WAY too hot, scared spitless and sure I'll never hold it at this speed- and hearing the bike whisper "Sissy!"...

Exactly...for the Steelers defense, in real life, Casey Hampton comes out of the game and they put in Chris Hoke or another faster nose tackle on passing downs. You used to be able to set up the Dime so that you take Hampton out on any Dime plays.

Can't find that option on the 360

That sucks, just another reason why i love the regular xbox version. Have my pass rushers on certain formations and run stuffers on others. Have various players in different formations just like REAL life.

The only way I found was to go to the depth chart and make the sub there, then change it back after the play. I only do this for offline games, though. I like to put Wimbley as a DE on dime plays, since he's got a 90's rating OVR at DE (his normal position is OLB)

ohhh those kind of subs. just sub Casey out of the nickel/dime formations and put in someone quicker. thats what I would do. see there is a solution to everything.

yeeeeah, you could do that. but the point is to save time. that too time consuming...

I dont think the 360 version is any different than the PS2/Xbox version unless they changed something.

It was a horrible idea to leave formation subs out of the game. Is there anyway you can make set up your formation package substitutions? I certainly am not oging to paus the game an dmake subs every time i want a guy on the field. Its ridiculous.

I dont know why I have to say this but if you look at the play select screen it clearly says press X for Formation subs. It doesnt allow you to do fancy stuff like remove a big run stoping defensive tackle for a quicker pass rushing one but I'm sure Madden never had that kind of option on any console. On offense you can however do stuff like move receivers around, sub your fullback for your 2nd string halfback, put a rb or te in the slot and on defense you can move safties and linebackers around and on dime sets you can sub your DEs for LBs if you which comes in handy if you run a 3-4 and want your OLBs lined up at DE in the dime set.

                          1. I don't think that's what the original poster meant.

                          2. It may say "X"-subs, but thats really packages, not formation subs.

Yea, it did, it was called formation substitutions.

All I see are package subs, not individual player subs for specific formations. Ill check it out, i have it for the PS3 and have not seen this. If they left it out for the PS3 then thats another kick to the sack for us PS3 owners.

                              Good point, theshiz

                              Wow....I can't believe it's not in the game....seriously, dead-pan, on the real.
That is terrible workmanship...and exhibits a total lack of professionalism. Madden is the only rival to windows. It not terrible overall, but too many parts are held together with duct tape and rubber cement....
                              Australian Rules Football...just sayin'
