Does Madden need a push-off animation?

They should implement a few different animations for receivers pushing off while running their routes down field to create some separation. They can have a few animations for a blatant push-off where it'll surely be a penalty; and then a few animations where it's a push-off but it's subtle enough to be missed in real time and the refs may or may not make the call.

And I guess they can have a combination of the route running and awareness ratings determine when someone pushes off and which animation they trigger.

I'm not a video game designer so I don't know how complicated it would be to implement this, but this could add a whole new level to the passing game and maybe we'd see more Offensive PI.

Yea, season showdown is awesome...it is the only reason I bought NCAA (in the most sarcastic voice you have heard).

Anyway, this would be a good idea to diversify penalties.

I thought this was already implemented with the DB/WR jostle interactions that the game was suppose to have. I have yet to see it

I just saw this push online:

TE receiving the ball, getting pushed by CB or OLB, TE gets pushed back about seven yards, CB falls to the ground, TE runs around and gets touchdown.

I don't remember reading anything about receivers pushing off during routes. And I do see the WR/DB jostling in every game I play, especially on longer routes with a receiver who doesn't have a high release rating.

But that's besides the point, when I say push-offs I'm talking about things like this:

                <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Zcx1VQemGOI&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Zcx1VQemGOI&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Start at 0:31 and you'll see Kelly clearly push the DB and gain the advantage.

                Another one:

                <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EosP5I22Kw4&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EosP5I22Kw4&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

There you have the non-call and the penalty. This could have a huge effect on the deep passing game since it can lead to big plays if the WR gets away with it.

I hate to bump my own thread for the second time now but I'd like to read some more input on this and possibly even some info from a dev.

Great idea!! This is the best idea I seen on OP in a while.
It would add more atmoshpere to the game, especially with WR/DB jostling.

I also think there should be a jam buster animation like in APF, I wanna see TO throw a small DB on the ground for trying to jam him. Thats disrespect.

More pass interference? Have you seen one called yet? I have O and D pass interference sliders at 100 and have yet to see one call.

I've only seen it when the DB flat out tackles my receiver before the ball gets there (against a human, CPU doesn't do this) but that's besides the point, they can sure up interference calls and also add a few push off animations in the future.

It's not besides the point it IS the point, if they don't push off or interact with each other you'll never see a penalty.

No but what it does need is a "Jump Ball Rating" because I'm sick of throwing jump balls only to have Fitz, Andre Johnson, Calvin etc do a normal catch animation, when in real life they GO GET IT.

We see it numerous times every Sunday, yet for whatever reason its not in the game.

It would force defenses to account for the big receiver every single down if they have a small corner on them. Safety help every play, which would open up other areas.

I just dont get why are people defending the undefendeable, Ian said this was going to be included and it wasnt. Im starting to think that Ian is not the only want cashing checks from eA
