    PS4 Madden Problem with DS4?

So I saw this video in ign. For those planning on getting a PS4 does this mean that you won't be able to bullet / lob a pass in madden on PS4?

The PS4's DualShock 4 controller won't make use of analogue face buttons.

VentureBeat reveals that the next-gen controller won't be able to sense how hard you're pressing its buttons, unlike the PlayStation 3's DualShock.

"With the DualShock 3, we were able to get analog data, which games didn’t really use," said Sony product planning manager Toshimasa Aoki. "For DualShock 4, we deleted that, and now it’s all digital. The mechanism inside is a little different, and the data that games get is different."

I don't think it ever worked by how hard you pressed them, but how long.

Tap for lob, hold for bullet.

Even though the PS3 had the analog capability, and PS2 madden and ncaa DID use it (which was awesome) - thanks to the digital only xbox 360 face buttons, EA never took advantage of the Dualshock 3's analog functionality since the 360 was their 'lead' platform...

Pretty much this. The 360 didn't have analog buttons which in turn killed the feature for everything but ps3 exclusives.

which is why, in this situation, I've always felt that although competition is good for a gamer...competition from Microsoft can be not so good. They went cheap with their controller....and it eventually affected us PlayStation gamers.

Do some think that PlayStation gamers would be paying for Online Multiplayer now if Microsoft console gaming was not around? Or no used games, that could've and might still happen...if Microsoft pushes it down the road?

it's what ever...I just do my part. In the end most gamers have their own lives, families, responsibilities...and don't have time to think or care about stuff like that.

Not to derail the thread but Microsoft brought Oline gameing to consoles with Xbox Live. Theres a reason you have to pay. You get what you pay for. Why do PS users have to pay now? Because Sony changed their stance on online. They decided to upgrade it and that cost money and that is going to be paid by the consumers..

It isn't like Microsoft just went cheap on their controllers either. The OP quote says "which games didn't really use". Whens the last time you played a game that it mattered how hard you pushed the button? I can't remember at all. And um digital > analog..

um...Sega brought online gaming to consoles. Its ok if you don't remember that.

I didn't pay for anything and at launch I had a 40player shooter, dedicated servers (no lag). I'm talking about Resistance 1. Then there was Warhawk, again 32 player online..dedicated servers...heck local 4 player splitscreen, that you could take online against 28 other gamers.

or MAG.. 256 players Online ( or smaller if you chose)

this is from one team with 128 players who got together

again all was free... if you are asking WHY they implemented paying for online multiplayer...sure they'll use the costs issue...but its more their share holders they have to answer two, these people at the top see Microsoft getting a billion per year from 360 users who pay for peer to peer gaming. That is eventually going to force changes.
