Breaking up double plays

I have yet to see players sliding into the 2B/SS during a double play, attempting to break it up. One of the cool things from The Show last year was you could have this happen every once in a while. Is this in the game?

nope.

I've tried it thousands of times, trying to slide into the SS.

Doesn't work. My player like "goes" right through him.. and the off chance if your safe, the SS / 2B is like "stuck" and won't try to throw to 1B.

My buddy did a sweet leap-frog over my baserunner trying to break up the DP yesterday online. It's in.

Oh, you can "try" to break up a DP, but your probably not going to be successful. Nice animation though, but still... you can't takeout the SS / 2B to break it up.

I know what you mean McCoy...but what I think brezz is talking about (which is why Vid said "nope") is when the sliding baserunner makes contact, however minimal, with the SS/2B and makes him eat the ball or make a terrible throw towards first.

the collision is garbage when it comes to that stuff. last years games CD was much better. i cant remember anyone running through another player (unless the inning was over).

but i have seen some cool animations when the ss or 2b jumps over the runner, or at least out of the way.

one thing that pisses me off is that on bunt attempts when the catcher throws to first, sometimes the ball with go through the runner. THATS BS.

Collision seems to only work when it's your own team running into each other. For instance Casey Blake dove in a game I had to stop a grounder along the first base line. Instead of tossing the ball to C.C. Sabathia who was running to first expecting the toss to him, I took Blake straight to the bag. He ran directly into C.C. and knocked him down on his butt. It was cool.

But the baserunner ran right through both of us.

I agree. It would be sweet if you could obstruct a players view when running on the paths and maybe they would miss trying to throw blindly around you (like in real baseball). I seen David Eckstein do this a few times last season.
