    How to throw strikeouts?

I seem to have trouble striking people out. I'm using Heelfan's sliders on 360, and while I don't have unusual trouble getting people out, I haven't recorded a K in 3 games as the Braves, with Smoltz, Hudson, and Hampton pitching. I use Payoff Pitching as well.

    Any suggestions?

Are you pitching to the catcher's glove, using the pitches he calls? I use Heelfan's sliders as well and just struck out 7 Dodgers with Zito.

Yeah, I use what pitches he calls and (try) to pitch to the glove. Nothing has seemed to work.

Change speeds, don't always use full power. Mix things up!

Changing speeds and locations is the key.

Well, I got my first strikeout just now. Brad Radke (I released Hampton and signed him) fanned Aaron Rowland of the Phils. But that's it, no more strikeouts.

            And 3 straight late-inning collapses...

I don't get many K's either. It's funny, I got 14 with Moose one game (I was so pissed, I needed 1 more for the achievement!), but after that the most I have gotten was 6. I usually get 3 or 4 a game.

                I've had one 14 K game and five 10-12 K games total.

Once you learn to vary your locals and use ALL of the pitches you will dominate .

It's all about keeping the batter off balance. Also keep your off-speeds low. Only go high with a FB or an occasional breaking pitch.

Heelfanss sliders have the CPU contact at 50. That's too high IMO. Anything above 40 and you will have an extremely difficult time striking out more than 3 - 5 batters on any game - even with top notch pitchers.

Interesting, I used those sliders too and had to change to zone pitching because I was ringing up 12-16 a game w/ payoff, and the Rockies pitching staff no less, was it the humidor?!?! LOL!....i am using zone 2 now and getting 3-4 a game, but it's more me than the set-up. As for what worked for me w/ payoff pitching was hitting the glove every time, changing speeds and working the corners. I shook off the catcher if I didn't like the call too. Keep working at it, and if you need to, change the sliders to YOUR style, not just sticking w/ a set because it worked for others....I have taken sliders from a few sets(props to: Q-bert, Heelfan) and tweaked them to my style, and I am VERY close to a "perfect" playing game...just need to tweak the AI contact down a little(more k's I hope). So keep trying it'll come! Good luck!

You don't have to always go with what the catcher says. Also check his call game rating. And like some else mentioned keep the AI contact at 40 or lower. I have the AI skill at 100 and AI contact at 40 and get a good amount of strikeouts with pitchers that are suppose to strike people out

Alright, I lowered CPU contact so we'll see how it goes.

i'm having a tough time with that too. i was trying to see if i could figure it our without adjusting sliders. i remember struggling for a while with mvp baseball before learning how to get guys to chase pitches. with no slider changes, i remember getting pretty realistic results as far as pitch counts, k's and bb's. not looking like its going to happen for me with this game, so i'm just starting to tinker with the sliders, but haven't made much progress as of yet. i'll get it though. just looking to simulate the real thing as much as possible. hoping to be able to average 4 to 7 k's (for 6 to 7 innings of work)with the top strikeout guys and get the occasional double digit game. i don't want to make it easy, just possible.

Alright, just had a "breakthrough". Fanned 4 or 5 with Chuck James, and then fanned 8 with Mark Redman. Hit a couple Payoff Pitches early, and then the changeup was NASTY.
