When is a check swing considered "went around"

I thought it meant that you had to be past a 90 degree angle from the batter, or that the tip of the bat is further out than the rest of the bat.

Twice now I've got calls against me saying I went around when the replay shows I didn't.

Also for those who think check swings are hard, they are but deffinatly doable. I've done a bunch in this one game testing. You just have to keep in mind that a full swing only needs a tap. I'm always primed and ready to let go now and it makes a big difference. It just takes a lot of concentration which is nice, makes the batting really challenging but realistic. But if you are ready to react the instant you see the pitch is going bad then you can get them no problem. Just condition yourself not to hold down the swing button for normal swings, then the short time needed for a check swing isn't so unatural.

There is no "offical" rule on a check swing. It's up to the umpire if he thinks you swung at the pitch.

if the umpire thought your bat crossed over homeplate its considered a swing...

its a judgement call..... whatever the umpire thinks... and if this game has variable umpires... that means they could make mistakes which is real life..... and thats a good thing

Actually, I'm pretty sure all the check swings look exactly the same on the replay. I looked at five or six, some called strikes, some not, and they all looked exactly the same. Generally, umps usually call a strike if the batter breaks their wrists (usually bringing the bat past a 90 degree angle, like you said). But in the game, I'm pretty sure they all look the same.

Chicken here is right... it's all just a "luck of the draw," as all check swing replays go the same distance. It's not like MVP where you can actually see it break the plane of the plate.

Thanks guys, they all did pretty much look the same although it did seem slightly different on the ones I didn't going around on. But now I'm afraid to even check thse replays anymore since the game "locked up" on me where the AI pitcher just say there on the mound and wouldnt pitch so I had to fastforward (thank god for that feature.)
