CPU Roster Control

Just want something clarified if anyone can. When i go to this from the main roster screen (not the one in season or franchise) it has team names to the far left and 3 other columns going to the right with checkboxes. What are the boxes for? I guess what i'm asking is it makes it seem like you can scroll over to these boxes to check them and un-check them but when i hit the d-pad nothing happens

Those boxes are highlighted if and when the lineups/rotations aren't valid and need to be fixed, is all.
