To those that have played the ps2 version and the ps3 version what can you honestly say about the hitting?? Do you find it any different and if so in what way??

Re: ps2 version vs ps3 version
This is a key issue for next year. They need to add some sliders and pump up the difficulty levels. After that work on cpu in game and roster management ai and this game will be close to perfect. Forget all the fluff.Comment

Re: ps2 version vs ps3 version
I completley agree. I think the online slider sharing idea is superb but the sliders are not that great. 1. they aren't enough and 2. they don't have enough of an impact and 3. well it could go with 2 but they aren't as adjustable as they should be. They are only a 20 point system (10 to the right of neutral and 10 to the left). They should make it a 100 point system like MVP. -50 all the way to +50.
This is a must along with fixing hitting and I think there are 2 ways they can go about fixing the hitting. I think they should ultimatley do both of these. Make the CPU pitching better. I think it has to do with the confidence meter. They have to get the CPU confidence meter right. I understand in the ps3 version finally the CPU has mound visits which is good but part of the reason why I am getting 15+ hits a game is because the pitches are just way too fat. This is The Show. It's the big leagues. It's the best pitching. Very seldom should a pitcher make a mistake over the heart of the plate or even catch a lot of the plate. It doesn't happen as often as it does in the game and this is what results in getting soooo many hits. The pitcher's just aren't as good as they should be with hitting the corners and missing right off the corner. There should be more sliders to further tweak this. There is no sliders to tweak this currently. Pitch aggressiveness does barely anything.
The other part of helping the hitting numbers go down is to slow down the pitch speed while greatly increasing the contact window. It seems to me like I can hit a pitch right down the middle hard even if I am a little late on it (opposite field HR's down the line). I'm not expecting the physics to be 100% perfect but at least don't have it so you can hit HR's down the OPPOSITE FIELD line hitting the foul pole on a pitch middle or middle in. It just does not happen in baseball. That tells me that the bat-to-ball physics engine and/or the timing window is off. Just remember the days of MVP (if you played) and you could see feedback analysis of your swing. In the replay the balls would show up as white (you would miss it), yellow (foul ball), and then it would fade into green (contact) and dark green (solid contact). Well that is what I am talking about here. It seems to me like in The Show on a pitch right down the middle that timing window is huge (or it's too many dark green balls) when it should really be very small. I think they need to slow down the pitch speed a little while increasing that timing window to more foul balls and weaker hit balls so A.) you get more variety in hit types and B.) you do not hit every fastball down the middle hard every single time. Yes big league hitters and elite big league hitters will miss mistake pitches (fouled back). I truly think if they made the CPU pitching better (hitting more corners and not throwing as many "fat" pitches) and also slowed down the pitch speed a little bit while messing with the timing window so you have to time it perfectly to get that really hard hit ball I think we would see a greater variety in hits and definetley a lot less hits (especially against very good pitchers that throw off your timing and hit their spots).
And of course to add to all of this there would be more sliders and greater number factor to the sliders so we can really do some tweaking and then share them online.Comment

IF-they do nothing else-they really need to add a foul ball frequency slider-and-have some kind of slider to adjust walks. I know I'm kicking a dead horse here,as I have mentioned this 1,000 or more-but this really needs to be addressed. I'm refering to the PS3 version here.ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment

Re: ps2 version vs ps3 version
All-
I picked up The Show for PS2 the day it came out and played it all the way through until the playoffs....
...that's when I decided to finally pick up a PS3 when I had the funds and just couldn't find myself playing old-gen anymore....although, I absolutely LOVED The Show for PS2 throughout the whole season.
...after I traded in my PS2 and bought my PS3 I also bought The Show for PS3...I heard it was basically the same game, only graphically a little better. I popped in the game and was like, "whoa"....sooo much smoother gameplay and the little things were soo much better on the PS3....I wished I had picked up a PS3 earlier in the season.
So, to conclude, the PS3 version blew me away after playing 182 games of PS2.....the hitting seemed easier in the PS3 version, but I hope they fix it next year!

I remember the High Heat series had this. It was excellent. High Heat had the best sliders I can remember. Too bad it was distributed on that ridiculous blue-back disc, or I'd probably still be playing that game.IF-they do nothing else-they really need to add a foul ball frequency slider-and-have some kind of slider to adjust walks. Now that you mentioned it-I remember a slider for the count or foul balls. I had HH on PC(not sure what version) and it seemed that I could work a count in a good way on it.ByurrulzIdon'tfollowComment
