Just to add, you can't edit them before a franchise. The players are randomly generated once you start a franchise, and not avaliable outside of that mode. But, there is a inactive list that can fill up to 15 players that aren't on the 25 man roster, and it's availiable right from the start. Those players will go to your minor league team once you start a franchise.
