Does "The Show" provide realistic user controlled statistics?

Have you found that you get realistic statistics (Batting Average, HR,s, RBI's etc.) for your user controlled players. Do your power hitters put up big numbers? Do you have singles hitters hitting 30 homeruns in your season when they would be lucky to hit 10 in real life?

I don't think people have played nearly enough games to accurately answer this question. I would like to know the answer after everybody has played enough games though.

Yeah I'm really just talking about the series track record overall in this regard.

Well, I think it really depends on what level you play on. I played MLB when Vin Scully was the announcer. If you play on rookie or veteran I think stats do get over inflated depending on your skill level. If you are asking in general, is it easy for example, for Juan Pierre to hit 20 or even 25 homeruns. I'd say no.

          It depends on your skill/level.

I play The Show 08 and my user stats were realistic. I am sure you are referring to having all of your hitters bat .400 with 55 HR's like I did with World Series for the Genesis (Now that was a painful 162 games to get through)....That won't happen unless you jack with the sliders...I played on default last year with minor tweaks....

I also agree it is based on skill level and sliders help make things better based on your skill....
            What?

well, yes and no, i mean you should be able to make solid contact more readily if your skill is good but you still shouldn't be able to be banging hrs. and balls off the walls with Pierre if his attributes mean anything.

The Show does a good job of getting good sim stats. You might need to tweak sliders though. The only issue I had in the past was getting walks and issuing walks. I think both will be better this year.

For the Show '08, ONLY if you did total overhaul/edits. I'm currently in my 2nd season with my Mets and Rays franchises...the stats are RIGHT ON!

In MLB 07 The Show I had 50-something homers by June with Austin Kearns. Any pitch that was belt high or higher that was even close to a strike was going into the seats. However, I was playing on veteran and nobody else had any absurd stats for me or the computer controlled teams.

I think they're pretty accurate. U gotta challenge yourself though and play on a skill level thats one above what you think you should be on. As long as ur approach is good, take pitches, work the count, etc. It should be pretty accurate. If you get good enough you might wanna mess around with the sliders to fit ur strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks for the replies. I guess what I wonder about more than anything is are the players performances accurate relative to eachother. For example when I step up to the plate with my big power guy, I want to feel like I have a much better chance of going deep than with my leadoff guy who has no power.

I think thats definately the case, at least it has been in SCEA offerings in the past, i havent yet played 09 but i see no reason for it to change.
