    My RTTS player hitting problem

Just finished my second season (my first full season in the MLB for the Blue Jays) and Im a first baseman. Im wondering if I can get better quality hits as my stats go up or if its just me. Im currently playing on Veteran timing hitting and 1/4 guess pitch. This is the first year of playing the series since 08' that I have had to reduce my skill level from All-Star.

My Contact is at 75 for right and left (C)
My Power is at 83 for right and 82 for left (B)
My Plate Vision is at 81

I would imagine with attributes like these I would hit .250+

My stats for my first year in the majors and this is laughable because I won Rookie of the Year. I hit .168 29 HR, 67 RBI's. Only had 82 hits all year. Im fine with the rbi's (sorta) and hr's but what kills me is the batting average because i used to be around or above the .300 mark. Now I cannot hit at all.
My sliders are at default except for pitch speed (helps me determine where the ball is headed) which is set at 2
should I be patient and wait to see how i do over the course of a few years or adjust some sliders now?? I dont mind in having bad seasons but in my AA season I hit .282 in AAA I hit .223 and in the MLB I hit .168

Any helpful tips/hints would be appreciated..

    Thanks, Rabid

I'd turn off guess pitch, if I were you. When you guess incorrectly, your odds of solid contact are awful. Without GP, I can recognize pitches better, which means both my walks and hits went up.

Also, if you want to dip into the sliders, you can try turning up quality hits (I think that's what it's called) and/or contact a click or two. I turned down CPU consistency and strike frequency, and thus far, hitting has been a bit easier.

There are several hitting threads out there. This particular one was one of the popular ones:

Would you say the times you aren't getting hits you're striking out? Getting robbed of hits? Just hitting weak popups and grounders?

I just finished my first professional season at AA and had literally one of the worst slumps I've ever had in a baseball game. I started hitting over .300 the first few weeks, then my average dropped all the way down to .216 into July. I'm on All-Star with sliders and started on zone hitting. I finally got tired of the zone hitting, switched to analog and at the end of the year, my average was .266. I always hit for power, zone (7) or analog (5), but using analog, I was finally able to drive the ball oppo. With zone, I was a dead pull hitter to the point where I was pulling fastballs and K'ing on damn near every offspeed pitch.

Timing has been a huge issue with me. Using X to initiate my swing, I reacted TOO fast. I'd pick the pitch up fine, but I just couldn't force myself to stay back. Even if I sat there telling myself to stay back, I couldn't. I'm not sure if you're having similar issues getting pull happy and K'ing on offspeed (especially offspeed away), but I just couldn't keep using X to initiate my swing. Using analog, it allowed me to stay back to initiate the stride and have a strong oppo stroke.
