This happens all the time when my OF or 1B will botch a play but the CPU scores the play a hit and its even more annoying when that run scores so it screws up my pitchers ERA

When is an error not an errorDoes anyone else not get charged an error when a 1B or OF botch a flyball or even a line drive?

Re: When is an error not an error

I really only notice this with my corner infielders. Most of the time on a hard hit ball right at them they do that animation where they try to get out of the way and miss the ball. Should be an error every time but isn't usually scored that way.

Re: When is an error not an error

It's not an error when it would have taken an extraordinary effort/performance to successfully get an out on that play. There are issues with the official scorer in this game, but there are also quite a few instances in real life where an error should not and would not be charged.Does anyone else not get charged an error when a 1B or OF botch a flyball or even a line drive?

You have to consider how hard the ball would have been to field, how fast the runner was, how hard the ball was hit, etc...Comment

Re: When is an error not an error

its on line drives they should have had because they botch the play where they catch the ball then drop it, and It even happens on pop ups when you get in the shadow then the OF/IF just goes crazy and teh ball drops. It's not an error when it would have taken an extraordinary effort/performance to successfully get an out on that play. Those should be errors and not hits.Comment

Re: When is an error not an error

I just had a game where I hit a single into right field and the right fielder let the ball go right under his glove and I advanced the runners to take an extra base. Clearly it should have been a single and error but it counted as a double.

There have been a few times when a dropped pop fly counted as a hit too. Even when the fielder clearly botches the play.

I imagine it was too much for all errors to be accurately accounted for accurately but I don't know much about computer programming.Comment

I've run into scenarios where my guy was charged an error just for throwing the ball in.

I'm not making excuses for the game devs, but there are instances where missed plays don't have errors attributed to them.Comment

It has happened to me, sometimes I say that has to be an error, but it sometimes ends up being ruled as a hit.Comment
