You can on The Show! Or what usually happens is you foul tip it strajght back. It will even tell you "good timing."
My problem is that they have completely removed the user skill from hitting in order to achieve realistic results every time. There is something in their logic/calculator that lets them arbitrarily create a result (ie pop out to the catcher) based on what would likely happen in real life according to each players rating.
I dont understand why "BB/9" is one of the most important attributes in regards to a pitcher's overall. This is an attribute that a simulation would need to know. Its like if a batter had a HR, a Double, and a Triple attribute as well as a power attribute, but those attributes severely trumped their power attribute. The fact that you can have a 90's rated pitcher that strikes batters out with a slider that has a 0 for velocity, control, and break kind of proves that everything is random if you think about it doesent it?
Shouldnt their VEL, CONTROL, and BREAK determine their BB/, H/9, HR/9, and K/9? You cant separate a pitcher's stuff from the results he would get, they are almost entirely independent of each other. I could understand there being a 5%-10% that is random or arbitrary to account for intangibles but....
