Substitutions?

Top of ninth inning, I pinch hit for my pitcher with a solid defensive outfielder. I wanted him to take the place of a liability fielder in the outfield the next half inning. When I went to switch them, it would not let me without them throwing a pitch first in the bottom half.

Is this just me overthinking this and not doing a double switch? It shouldn’t be this difficult.

If you’ve pinch hit for your pitcher, then when you are prompted to choose your next pitcher from the bullpen you must select “double switch”.

I figured this was the case. I typically use the double switch when I’m still pitching prior to the inning.
