    A-Button for Running Faster?

Okay, maybe I missed this in the Cliff's Notes of a manual that I barely looked at, but I read online somehwere, in a breakdown of EA's game this year, that you can press (or tap, or mash, or hold down??) the A-Button when running, and cause the baserunner to "put his head down" and run faster... Is this even true? Why do I not see a big difference when trying to beat the throw to home, or even when I am stealing? Does anyone know if this indeed is an option? Could this be the key to stealing a base with the slider set I am using that gives the advantage to the CPU??

    Anyone?

I've never heard of that. But I never tried holding a button down either. I think the trick of steals is just to slide to the correct side of the base.

Never heard of that for MVP. Maybe you are thinking of 2k5?

I noticed also that when I advance my runners with the "L" trigger, they also put their head down and actually "look" like they're running faster. I dont neccessarily think they do however.

                            Re: A-Button for Running Faster?

Okay, I found it... this is from the Team X-Box review for MVP 2005...

                            (Gameplay Controls:

The only controls that have been added from last year’s game are quick pick off attempts and the ability to argue a call. A pitcher can attempt a quick pick off by holding the left trigger instead of the right trigger while pressing B, Y, or X when on the mound. Arguing a call takes place during an auto-replay by tapping the Y button. Repeated taps will ramp up the intensity of the confrontation, which may end up leading to an ejection. An argument can also be initiated from the Your Dugout section of the Bullpen Menu.

Here are the rest of MVP Baseball 2005’s standard controls:

                            Offense:

                            Left thumbstick – Pure Swing
Right thumbstick – bunt (click and hold)
A button – swing (tap for check swing)
                            Y button – charge mound
White button – move in batter’s box (use left thumbstick)

                            Baserunning:

                            Right thumbstick – freestyle slides
D-pad – choose base to steal
A button – sprint, lower head
B button – control runner on first
X button – control runner at third
Y button – control runner at second
Black button – stop all runners
White button – stop selected runner

                            Defense:

Left thumbstick – choose pitch location, view pitch history
                            D-pad – choose infield/outfield alignment, bullpen/dugout toggle
Left trigger – intentional walk, intentional hit, pitchout, quick pickoff
                            Right trigger – normal pickoff
                            A button – throw a pitch
                            B button – throw a pitch
                            X button – throw a pitch
                            Y button – throw a pitch
                            Black button – pitch)

It says that you can hit the A-Button, to "sprint, lower head". I have tried it, and honestly...I do not see any difference. Has anyone even tried to use this? When you hit a shot into the hole,a nd the shortstop picks it, and throws it across the diamond, and you are out by a 1/2 a step... Could you have made it by using the phantom A-Button? Do I press hit, tap it, mash the sh** out of it??? Is it only with runners with certain speed ratings?

                            I cannot tell.
