How does the ball flight look on PS2 compared to PC?

After having some issues with MLB I decided to check out MVP. I noticed that on the PC the flight of the ball looks kinda goofy, especially on curve balls (compared to MLB which looks very solid and lifelike).

Is the PS2 any smoother? Anyone who's seen MLB maybe care to comment onthe differences? Overall MLB just seems a lot smoother overall but I'm sure it's the computer I saw it on that made MVP like that (hope so as Im thinking of getting it for PS2).

I own the PS2 version of MVP and it's great, There is no slowdown at all, if there is I never seen it, Iown MLB06 too and I give MVP the edge in gameplay and In animations, It's just smoother IMO. The flight of the ball looks great on The PS2 if you ask me, nothing to complain about. I think the pitches look just fine in MVP too. Hope that helps.

Cool man thanks a lot, I think you just sold me on MVP, that was my biggest complaint. I still love MLB but I think this year I'll just have both. This is the first EA game I've bought in years. That's great that you say its smoother than MLB as well as to me MLB is pretty damn smooth.

Hopefully Toys R Us still has them for 19.99.

edit: damn just realized the 19.99 isn't valid for PS2.

Im very curious as to why you think MVP has the edge over MLB 2006?

I just played about 2 innings of MLB over at my nephew's house and was practically blown away with the realism and yet the fluid and buttery smooth video gameplay feel of the game.

It felt almost like the perfect blend of 2 great games....a cross between the old Saturn World Series Baseball ( one of the best playing video game baseball games ) and ALL STAR Baseball ( one of the most lifelike baseball games )

I was in pure heaven with MLB 2006 and felt it just played better than MVP...and I really enjoy MVP but I think MLB 2006 was just so much more 'solid' and better put together.

Interesting, were you comparing this to MVP on PS2 as well?

Generally console games seem a lot smoother to me anyways, like WE8 on the PC compared to PS2. I just hope MVP is the same.

But I agree MLB is very solid in how everything transitions and I love the ball flight (if only I could get a varity of hit balls like I saw in MVP)

actually, that may be it right there....I own MVP on the PC. I have a 3.1ghz P4 with a Radeon 800XT video card...so it's very high end, but the gameplay is choppy and unfluid....but even despite the fluidness of the game, after seeing how much more fun MLB 2006 was, I found it to be the better game

Hitting felt much more rewarding, Throwing the ball to the bases and fielding felt so realistic yet still enjoyable...Animations were so much more fluid and lifelike whereas MVP, still has a little of that "Triple Play" feeling left in its engine...not much, but it still feels that way at times.

I just felt that MLB was so much more polished feeling....perhaps that would change once I played a few games...I dont know

Re: How does the ball flight look on PS2 compared to PC?

The system I saw it on was a P4 2.8, forget the card though I think it was a Ti4200. It was nite and day difference between MLB2006 on the PS2, I almost laughed at MVP. The players faces looked really weird. But now I've checked out some screen shots of the PS2 and they look great, MUCH smoother. And I bet the flight of the ball is much better too. Guess I need to go find some PS2 in game videos to check out. Like I said We8 was the same deal, it actually looks pretty decent on a PC but the PS2 one is again much smoother.

Oh and as far as your impressions of MLB they are the same for me. The problem is too many called strikes right on the edge of the strike zone, the cpu pitchers are constantly getting these calls. Also there isn't the variety of hits, most of them are hit very hard line drive style. None of the little dribblers and bloopers that MVP had (from what I saw). MLB is awesome its just a little frustrating right now especially with the freezes as well. I think we might have found a slider for the lack of weaker hit balls. But there is no accuracy slider for the pitchers and so far I don't see a way to even edit the pitchers outside of my own team.

Will be tough to give up MLB if that's what I decide but for the sake of gameplay I might have too. I'm also not a fan of pitch meters too, I use the classic mode on MLB where more of the pitchers stats take over.

I just think MVP has the edge, thats it.
