    Pitching Gurus

I know this is somewhere else but I need some help.

I am a very good hitter in this game. I can pitch very well at times. I need help on a few pitches

The slider, cutter and splitter... How should I use these pitches. I am the Tigers and I have Bonderman who has a good slider but I dont know how to utilize it. Cornejo has potential with a lot of power pitches but how do you use a cutter? And Urbina and German use the splitter. Those are the pitches i struggle to get strikes with.

    Thanks in advance!

Funny, but no need for the rudeness.

I would not consider myself a pitching guru, nor do I know much, so don't listen to me religiously...but here's a vague answer..

Sliders are good to try and get ground balls...they're a good DP ball, but can also be used a vicious strikeout pitch if left slightly out of the zone. Don't rely on a slider to get every ground ball, as if you make a mistake, they are easy to blast when thrown wrong.

Cutters you can't really ask me about...I just use them as a fastball that moves slightly, lol.

Splitter's can be used as an out pitch when trying to get a batter to chase. To my knowledge you should always keep a splitter low in the zone , because if you leave it hanging it can be jacked out of the park.

That's my very little knowledge about those pitches...I use slider's a lot, mainly as an out pitch or ground ball pitch...but mainly I use FB, Curves and Changeups, so don't have much familiarity with the cutter/splitter....I do know Schilling has a nasty splitter in real life and Mariano Rivera has a nasty cutter.

Slider is good when you have a righty/righty or lefty/lefty match up and throw it outside after working somebody inside. They will usually chase it.

Splitter is good for throwing it low in the strike zone, will look like a fastball but have a sharp break down. Uusally throw itlow and out of the strike zone.

Cutter is great for jamming somebody in. Lefty pitcher versus a righty hitter and vice versa. Sort of the opposite of a slider for me.

The Cutter is like my favorite pitch...What I do is put it so that it slides out of the zone. Usually for me the batter chases. I also put it sometimes on the inside black of the plate. I do the same thing slider, except with me the cutter works better.

I have trouble with the splitter.

I pretty much keep the cutter up and in on the hands of batters both in and out of the strike zone.

I don't ever throw the splitter for a strike unless it's an accident. I try to get batters to chase it low and out of the zone.

I throw the slider all over the place low both in and out of the zone.

                        Re: Pitching Gurus

Everyone has said pretty much what you do with them, but another tip with the slider if you're pitching with a righty vs. a left batter, have it break right out on the outside corner with two strikes, they look at it most of the time, and if they swing it's usually a weak pop out

The splitter is mostly only used by right handed pitchers, and it's most effective when thrown low(out of the strike zone) and in on leftys and low and away to righty's...it usually causes ground outs, and is damn near impossible to hit for power from either side if located correctly. The splitter is actually probably the most effective pitch in the game, if you ever do a fantasy draft and you play most of your games i'd recommend picking up a few starters who throw them because they're easy to pitch with(they don't do as well in simmed games though)

                            Re: Pitching Gurus

I use the cutter on the inner half of the plate against opposite handed hitters (LHP vs Righty Hitter). The splitter I use on the lower half of the strike zone so that it looks like it is in the zone, then falls out. Slider as on the outer half when going against same handed batters.
