For CPU vs. CPU, Manage mode players, & Watchers only.... PC

    Hi guys..

If you aren't a CPU vs CPU, GM or Manage style player, please don't bother to read this post..

For those of you that are, I might be able to help you enjoy your game a little more.. All I ask is that you give this a try and let me know if what ya think..

First of all, I have done several test because those of you that know me know what I want out of a baseball game. I am sick and tired of low scoring, 4 hits , no walk CPU vs CPU games.

I will start by telling you this. First I got my rosters set up.. Then after creating & editing players.. I used the MVP edit to adjust my stats.. I kept starting a Dynasty and simming a season.. Then comparing LEAGUE LEADERS to the last 3 years of MLB stats.. I hoped that this would help the CPU vs CPU games.. It didn't.. The only way to help that was to increase the ratings using MVP edit.. This of course helped, But if you simmied a season, stats were completely out of hand. The best Pitcher in BB had a 4.45 era, and top hitter was 490... Didn't work...

If I lowered pitchers control ratings, I thought I might get better pitch counts.. I did.. But once again when you simmmed.. Stats went crazy... For some reason, the CPU vs CPU games have a mind of there own..

So I had a great game if I simmed.. I had a great game if I played.. But I couldn’t Manage and CPU vs CPU games sucked. No walks, 10 to 15 k's every game.. 2 to 1 games.. I really enjoyed the CPU vs CPU games because it also let me Manage mode.. I could take over the control at any time.. Bunt, steal, H&R.. Bean a batter, .. Do what ever and when ever I wanted..

Just as I was ready to give up.. I decided to try something... IT WORKED, I simply Edited the 2 starting pitchers STAMINA rating before the game started.. Just the starters... I realized that many people were saying the control rating dropped when their pitchers got tired.. So I dropped both Pitchers to 20..

I was amazed.. The game started off with a walk.. The Pitch counts were going great. My first game ended 8 to 6. There were hits, and K's dropped dramatically. Both pitchers were completely out of stamina by the second inning.. This is where I was worried.. I thought the CPU managers would pull them.. But to my surprise.. In 6 games.. Only one pitcher was pulled before the 5th.. Most went 6 to 8 innings..

    My second game was 7 to 4.. 7 runs, 12 hits, O E's.... 4 runs, 8 hits, o E's.. 4 walks, 3 k's..... 4 ks... 3 walks.. total of 2 HR..

Pretty much all of 6 games were like this.. When the two aces met.. It was a battle.. 4 to 3 game.

I played / watched these games on pro.. with my own personal slider settings.. But this does work.. After I finished the game I put the starters Stamina right back as it was, so if I simmed it wouldn't effect anything..

Now grant me.. This is not a cure all by any means.. But it will make the game playable and adds some excitement for guys like us.. If you are like me, and ready to give up.. I really encourage you to try this.. It only takes a few seconds too do..

I could really use the imput on this.. Maybe we could come up with a formula that would work.. For example If an opponent starting pitcher has a Stamina of 92 and your pitcher has a 70.. They both shouldn't be at 20.. The 92 rated player should last longer and be a little more affective than yours..

For example.. A pitcher with 90 shouldn't be any lower than 35 and a pitcher with 60 shouldn't lower than 20.. We have to find a high and low point...

Anyway, I hope this will help someone enjoy the game just a little more… I am still working and testing, and will continue to do so.. If anyone wants to help.. Please let me know.. I will tell you how I used MVP edit and what I adjusted to get good stats.. We can go from there.. With the addition of Rubber Ducky fixing the Rookie progression problem. And working on a roster fix.. It might just be worth it.

Nice to hear that someone is out there fiddling around with cpu vs. cpu settings. I haven't an analog controller so far, so i just have to focuse on the manage mode of the game.

May you post your slider settings? Do you play on pro or on all-star? Is it possible to change player ratings within a dynasty?

                Frank,

Yes, You can change or edit any player while in dynasty.. This is one feature that EA really deserves credit for. You simply go to you're roster and enter the create and edit player. Yours our there’s.

You can only use the In Game editor though once you have saved your dynasty. That’s really where you want to do it from anyway... Until Robert fixes or I should say adds a custom league or save league feature to MVP edit..

As it is you can only use MVP edit to adjust default rosters.. once you save them, the editor no longer applies to them.

As for posting sliders, I really don't like to do that because sliders are a personal type thing. What I enjoy seeing in a game, you may not.. For example, I love aggressive running, so I have my aggressive running at about 20.. A few guys get thrown out going for extra bases and a few don't.. But it makes it exciting.

If you want to e-mail or PM me, I will be glad to share them with you.. But I am not using stock rosters. I have DL Kerms Default.. Then I made all my MVP edit changes to them.

Basically I made Global edit changes in Percentage to Plate Discipline, Bunting, Stealing aggress, Range, pickoff, All pitch control, Linedrive R & L, Hr R & L, , and static changes which is most important to Chase R 7 L , Take R & L, Miss R & L.....

I set all these up so that I could sim on All-star.. with no changes to the in game sliders.( all at 0 ) until I achieved realistic stats.. Once I got close, I simmed the season over about 10 times to make sure that it stayed pretty level.

Then I played CPU vs CPU or my Manage mode types games on PRO level, so that I could set the in game Pro sliders to my personal liking. That is the only time I lower the starting pitchers stamina.

Being that I am not a Thumb Jockey, I use Rookie if I’m actually gonna play the game and try to set the in game sliders for that so that it all balances out. Keeping my stats realistic.

So when I’m going to Sim, I switch to All-star, Watch or manage, I switch to Pro.. Play ( at least for now 0 or until I get better.. I switch to Rookie..

But until I have the actual Start of the season rosters, the Progression player patch is completely ready, and all the mods I'm gonna use, I will just keep testing and tweaking..

Once I actually start my Dynasty, I don't want to start over.. Plus I keep checking these boards because you never know when someone is gonna find something new or discover something that can help..

Of course, If ASB turns out to be a great game, I might just go that direction.. I tried that last year but manage mode was terrible.. Unless you loved 2 to 1 games over and over.. That's not for me..
