I hope 2k will continue to improve the AI

2k23 did a nice improvement for the AI
But in the end of the NBA season the CPU gotten too easy to beat on hall of fame even with buff up sliders giving the CPU the advantage

Mostly from the CPU Offensive side of the ball
And I think their Hot&Cold bug messed up their consistency
To the point it allows the User to get back in the game with big come backs
The momentum favors the user obviously

The last time I gotten blown out sometimes before patch 5
So I hope they will continue to improve and make the CPU give us the User the challenge we been waiting for since the playstation 3&4 era

CPU offense needs to be more aggressive, make quicker decisions and utilize more plays imo

      Exactly!
First thing the CPU think about doing is going inside the paint
I hardly see iso players utilize iso plays it's either go inside or they pass the ball around like a hot potato and wait until the shot clock is almost run out like the CPU is confused on who to pass to

They should put a iso slider to go along with the Tendencies to compliment the roster iso DNA

Glad to hear someone else mention this experience. I wondered if maybe it was because I had the difficulty too low or whether it had something to do with 1980's tendencies. But I have CPU Offensive Awareness and Consistency both pumped up to 100 and I still see them doing the hot potato thing a good deal.

I’m optimistic about the new “gameplan” system that the devs have (not so) allegedly been working on

Re: I hope 2k will continue to improve the AI

I have it playing almost perfectly. Around 50% shooting for both teams. Both teams shoot around 25 Free throws, around 30 3's, around 10 turnovers per team. I adjusted the CPU coaching to run plays between 72 and 80 depending on the team. If you have a team with more ISO guys like Durant or a team like the Warriors, Nuggets or Bucks who run offensive systems that are specific to them I set them between 60 and 70. You also have to edit rosters for the true ISO guys to make ISO their first play priority and not P&R. Hope that helps. The combination of CPU play calling tendency and changing the play priority types of certain players makes it far more realistic and simulation based. Took me a couple of weeks in slider and roster edit hell after the 5th patch but its playing really well for me right now.

I hope 2k will continue to improve the AI

The approach for current gen AI seems to be more about making the AI experience a balanced one…in contrast to the artificial difficulty (A.I cheesing) to provide a challenge like last gen.

Not many “the CPU is cheating” threads this gen, lol

Definitely some growing pains along the way though, as the CPU doesn’t have the same “bite” as it appeared to have previous year but it’s gotten better and better. last year was especially rough though.

I rather 2K have me tweak to make the AI more of a challenge than me going down the rabbit hole of seeking balance where I’m constantly worrying about over-nerfing.

Looking forward to seeing how it continues to evolve.

The still get discouraged. I mean I am always talking about how 2k added a lot of things to make cpu harder (that seem cheesy some times but are necessary) like how bots camp your post passes. The problem is that they also will morph thru u and steal (I make long post passes lool) 1v1, which is kinda wack.

Their defense is kind of a joke but it’s not sticky like it was, post engage is wayyy too strong for messing with bots. Bots understand now how to do a nice bump steal, so they are good more or less considering it’s a script vs experienced user. However, you can shut down their offense if u find the branch and make it impossible. So like if u ball deny a pass like I did, they won’t try to sauce you or anything. I’m all for the cpu taking more wild shots cuz almost every non lay up shot they take, I’m there to make ‘em miss with hands up. Kinda boring. Hands up is also still way too strong esp v jump shots on move. Arguably hands up and contest should be diff buttons, imo. Make tap tri (so it’s easier to get off balance?) be contest and let hands up be the wall it is. Otherwise you just shut down cpu possessions by dancing the y m c a in the passing lanes.

Edit: you know how some games let u put cpu as someone’s style or an interpretation of your style, it would be nice to have the cpu add more moves done by 2k vets. Not with every player, but stars. Just started seeing the fade three off pick and roll and that’s money. Eventually we’d know all their moves too, but at least they need an emergency escape button when what they are doing is not working.

Some would agree with you, some still have shot clock cheese nightmares, lol

                      It’s a tough balance.

I think AI shot creativity is the best it’s been in years…but there are games where they simply don’t make them and it can get ugly.

I’ve said this a couple of times now, but I think the CPU should be reverted to RP% instead of timing. This was changed to curb cheese in the first place but I think it’d help in that aspect

I hope they consider making the court bigger or the player models smaller. So much of the CPU's "offense" relies on you being unable to move around defensively because there's no room to do so, as they don't space the floor and instead just bunch all their players together at the top of the key.

I respect your take but the cheating aspect had me quitting 2K altogether. It's tough for me to stay with a basketball video game when the basketball being played doesn't make sense.

2K23's gameplay is imperfect, particularly from a CPU consistency point of view, but it does a much better job of rewarding users for sensible basketball plays rather than shutting them down with mega-warping defenders for the sake of a challenge. I appreciate that.
