My Player caps are a rip-off

My 90 balanced SG is in actuality an 81 in NBA Blacktop where they use the default overall system.

This knowledge should have been already learned beforehand but to see it clearly now is alarming - this bites and I don't like this truth...

Take your My Player to Blacktop and see what his true overall is. I'm interested to know how others stack up.

In reality these overalls in My Career are being artificially boosted and not being reflected honestly - again, this should have been foreknowledge going in considering we are being capped. How would we expect to reach a 99 let alone 95 with "caps"?

For the above reason is why I feel ripped off. I want to be able to dictate where my attributes go individually and not into an entire bucket - I deserve that freedom and flexibility in customizing my player -- especially with caps introduced!

It's the grouping bs!! Grouping attributes for my career is the single worst thing they could've done! Smh...

I have to agree on this. I really dislike not being able to hand pick my individual skills. There are players who can shoot the lights out at the 3 point line but not at all good at mid range. Or a ferocious dunker who barely do any layups...

But then again, the fact that they spent all these budget and time on the whole Spike Lee experience should tell you that they don't really understand what the gamers want for MyPlayer.

I actually was thinking this when I compared myplayer to some of the players in the game....

But it's a much needed balance and mypark plays soo much better with the caps. I honestly enjoy the games in myplayer thanks to the caps

I do agree with you: I witness the balance. I still feel we could distribute attributes individually within a cap system : I believe the two could coexist in the same system.

Give us a pool of points for each bucket + a cap for the whole lot of buckets like how we get 100 attribute bars to distribute among 120 possible slots. Then have us distribute the points freely with the given risks and rewards within the cap system.

The above system which is a hallmark to 2k11 would allow for more creativity with our players.

A good 90% of perimeter players are already conditioned to max out all buckets and keep rebounding at zero. For bigs I imagine it's Playmaker that they ignore.

This bucket system is dried up...

THIS x1000. I can hit contested 3s, but not open jump shots, throw down monster dunks, but miss open layups.

I liked your post not because I care about using MyPlayer in online modes (I don't), but because the offline experience of the lame story of Frequency Vibrations, and the grouping of attributes so you can't customize your player's skills certainly make MyCareer mode less enjoyable.

Hoping next year they make My Career more like a modern RPG, in that you a)have choices in how your story plays out, b)your choices actually have an impact, and c)you can develop your character however you want. This year's MyCareer is more like a JRPG like Final Fantasy XIII or something, where you play the part of a character, have no choices or control over the story, or how your character develops (granted, you have some control of that in terms of what Buckets you spend your VC in).

As long as online MyPlayer modes are tied to offline MyCareer, I don't have much hope we'll see "c)".

The caps and attribute buckets system was clearly made to balance online, but it is ridiculous that it should affect those who mainly play MyCareer for the single player experience.

For those caring what your ovr rating is in career.... are you not a hall of fame player? Do you not break every record and win many titles? How easy does it have to be? If u never play online you could score 50pts a game without even breaking 75 ovr.

I play on superstar/sim, and generally don't partake in that ballhogging style where I try to take every shot and put up 50 every game and end with a C+ teammate grade. I like my points to come in the flow of the offense like actual basketball, and it's way easier the higher I'm rated

I play superstar, but casual. I always get A or better unless im fouling out. Im just saying, does your exact overall matter much when however style you play you are doing it better than any other player in the fictitious NBA yourplayer lives in.

Whether you want to play like Jordan or Stockton, Shaq or LeBron, you can do it better, even on Hall of Fame Sim. Even if u just let coach call plays and you stand on your spots within the offense.

yes, it still matters. I can't knock down threes like ray allen unless I have great 3pt ratings. I can't break down the D and slash to the rim and finish at impossible angles like D wade unless I have great playmaking/layup skills. etc

So u want to just be the best at everything. As good a 3pt shooter as an all time great shooter, slash like an all time great slasher.

Well my inside center cant obviously do that but my balanced SG im not having issue doing any of that. My inside center is more dominate than any center in history though without having any shooting rating.

I don't particularly want to be the best at everything, but there is a point to be made that, why restrict users who only play single-player career from doing just that? If you're playing single player there's no need for online "balance," but it's still forced on us.

Only caps I disagree with in MyCareer are Speed and shooting. When I max out my 6ft 8 SF I'll have 72 Speed, 78 Mid, 72 3. The biggest problem is Speed. Played the Knicks and Melo could jog up the court and I needed to turbo to keep up. How am I supposed to mark NBA players when I move like a C?
