I've been playing this game since the early launch and I love it, but it's missing something. Let me explain. For all of the new additions and modes and improvements in gameplay, NBA 2K16 has lost a key aspect of what makes the real game of basketball so exciting. That is the element of unpredictability.
It seems to me that for every gameplay enhancement and AI improvement that has been implemented to make the game better, the game must now counterbalance and nerf everything that it does to empower the gamer. For example, if there is anyone in these forums who has hit a half court or full court shot in this year's game, show me some hands. If you have ever made a fadeaway jumpshot with a defender right in your face at the end of the shotclock, let me know too. Truth is that in my experience, these things simply do not happen in NBA2k16 (at least not on simulation settings). The game's outcomes have become predictable. In order to reward good basketball and not bail you out in any regard whatsoever, the penalty for taking a "bad shot" has become far too harsh, to the point where there is no dynamism.
You now KNOW without a doubt that if your shot is adequately contested anywhere outside of the paint, it will miss. You now KNOW that you dont have to D up a half court shot because they NEVER go in. Making shots like these on occasion are what gets fans of the league out of their seats. What I'm saying is that in this game, outcomes that are exciting but improbable in the real NBA, have become basically impossible in NBA2K16, and it makes the game feel neutered. It's as if 2K is now such a good videogame, that it's becoming a bit boring in representing actual NBA basketball.
