Controls ceasing to work online?

Has anyone experienced this before? The last couple of days I've been playing All-star Team Up and in the middle of the game, without warning, every button on the controller stops working. All that I can do is jog around, shoot close shots (and long heaves) and swipe at the ball. It doesn't happen every time, but I've experienced it twice in maybe 10 games.

Any ideas or suggestions as to how I can fix it?

Could it be lag ? When it happens to me it's due to slight lag

Both times it's seemed like the game was running pretty smoothly, and it is continuing to do so even through my controller not working. Can lag be present if it's not visibly "choppy?"

I think this might be the best place to post this:

You guys noticing that certain actions don't work online..I've noticed that the grab move you do with both of the sticks isn't working online like it does off..I usually run past him if I use both sticks or just let him blow by if I try with just one

I've just noticed this and haven't had time to play with it and see id its normal latency and I just have to find the correct timing..if that is the case I'll try to come back here and edit this message

It's happened to me offline. It got to the point where I couldn't shoot or pass on offense and I couldn't contest shots or go for rebounds on defense. I switched controllers turned, off the controllers and turned them back on and nothing. 2K gets worse and worse as the days go by.

this has happened to me before online, couldn't do anything but move around with whom ever I inbound to or grab the rebound with

any update on this? it's still happening? whoever I inbound or rebound with gets stuck with the ball, cant shoot or pass, just walk around

The shot stick sometimes switches from "default" to "dribble moves only" for some strange unknown reason. If you are using the stick this could be the problem, simply go into controller settings and change it back.

It used to happen to me all the time, but I updated my settings in my main profile and it hasn't happened since.

I tried this but it didn't work, when I checked the controller settings it was still on default. the only thing that unsticks it is pausing the game. If I try to make a change with the LB while during the game it sticks again

I've had this happen before, but it's been a while. It seems like it typically occurs when you have the L1 playcall icons/window up and then something happens in the game to pull the icons down (such as someone calling a timeout or getting a turnover). It's almost like the game thinks the icons are still up. You can move around, but every other button won't do anything. Sometimes it goes away, sometimes it doesn't. I even had one instance where the problem jumped around randomly to everyone that was on my team. As soon as someone would get their controls back, someone else wouldn't be able to do anything. It was pretty funny actually.

*PS: That theory I mentioned above is through no manner of testing and could be completely wrong. It's just an observation/theory I've developed from the few times it's occurred to me or one of my teammates.

I haven't seen this happening recently. When it's happened to me, I never notice it with the shot stick, it's more with pressing X to pass the ball. Whenever I noticed it, it was when I saw an open man to pass to. Pokes' explanation seems the most plausible. Pretty sure I remember attempting to call plays as the SF in a couple of these situations (b/c I was the only one left, and randoms don't handle set plays very well, generally.)
