    2K14 (last gen) and 2K19 - PC

I've noticed there are a lot of people who really get behind 2K14 on PC and that it has a fantastic modding community. 2K19 is similar in what's out there in mods considering it hasn't been around as long.

However, I noticed that there is also a general opinion online that 2K14 is far far better than 2K19. Are people referring to the current gen 2K14 when they say that, or to the last gen version? Because having taken the time to try both, I don't see how anyone could prefer 2K14 on PC (last gen) to 2K19. I'm not even someone who cares about graphics that much, most sports games I play are from 10-15 years ago with roster updates. But it still confuses me.

So I'm wondering if I'm missing something. What are those things in the last-gen PC version of 2K14 that could be considered so much better the 2K19? And what is it about 2K19 that is so awful? But remember, I only play seasons in offline mode. I never, ever use online features of any kind in any sports game. I'm saying that because I'm finding increasingly that the only criticisms online these days about sports games are about how the online experience ruins the whole game.

Most people on PC still enjoy 2K14 because of the mods. There is a free tool called red mc that will let you do any roster update including constantlyupdate the game or make custom rosters.

I enjoyed 2k14 on pc and still love the factthat it has every retro roster and current roster due to mods but I still think 2K19 is better.

I totally see now after spending time with it that 2K14 is essentially the MVP05 on PC and the NHL04 on PC of basketball. The mods make it something special despite newer games surpassing it in certain respects, usually graphics.

However it surprises me that the PS3/360/PC version of 2K14 is the one that (apparently) is considered so incredible for presentation, lighting, and even gameplay, when 2K19 in my opinion is miles better (perhaps less so in gameplay). At least in those other two, it's night and day.

But, yes, those mods do make 2K14 something special and like FIFA, PES, other games, clearly it's the previous gen of games that were more moddable and thus have better communities. Although I'm pretty sure that only on 2K13 can you get ABA teams with that mod that has 40s and 50s teams. Do you know of a 2K14 mod that has teams going back that far because I'd love to try it if so. Speaking of which, do you have any thoughts on 2K13 and 2K12? Apparently there's some blocking issue in 2K13?

      Thanks again!

Ps3 2k14 is great to play v cpu on hof w minimal slider adjustments. The cpu attacks the paint like days of old. I think 14 is the best 2k in terms of finishing and shooting , I like that if you jump into someone, it's a foul, you run into someone, it's a foul. The rebounding is better. Not just bigs getting 20 rebs. I've had my pg get 10, the ball tips up.

Weaknesses are that you can push the break hard. The way it unfolds is realistic (except too many posters) butthe way the cpu gets back on d is pretty weak. Speed matters on the break. You need a fast guy to chase down. The cpu can be stymied by good defense. They don't really have a play for physical on ball d and pressing into people on the catch.

I have game speed turned to like 46 or something and it still feels realistic pace.

If the Ai was smarter it would be really amazing offline. I already enjoy it enougjh to play twelve min qtrs, but if the Ai was alil better they'd be brutal. They look for too good of shots or drives / drive n kicks. You can get a lot of blocks on drives.

It's really how much different it is. I was playing 18 on ps4 to compare. W all my adjustments like min max speed widened n body up sensitivity, jump shot contest turned way down and it was a joke how bad the cpu was.

There's no way to make them better I don't think. I turned offensive awareness way up in hope that they'd get something going but it doesn't compare to 14 on mostly default w fouls up and some things, steals, shooting down.
