Calling all NBA 2k20 Post Scorers

Have no idea how imma build my Post Scorer this year. A lot of things are different. I figure this thread we can bounce ideas off each other. Things like best body type and height will be very useful. Will speed and height be more of a factor?

-C Sharp Shooting Post Scorer
88 Post Fade/Hook ~76 3pt shot

-C Midrange Way Finisher
90 Hook 90 Contact Dunk 85 Blocking 75 Midrange

-PF Slashing Post Scorer
88 Post/Hook 87 Contact/Driving Dunk

Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but so far Post Scorers are not the way to go. There is no Post category, instead Post Hook is in finishing, Post Fade is in shooting and Post Control is in playmaking. You can make a version of a slashing or pure Post, but a gold dropstep was useless (2k hinted at this a few days ago) and I was getting swatted left and right. I also started getting doubled teamed after scoring 8 points and it does not look like you can rb/r1 to call for an iso.

Don’t know if I can stomach that grind with my PF standing on the opposite low block and getting double teamed all game.

Sharps and playmakers still perform the same though...

Yeah... have been a post since NBA Live 04, and this year... the post players are just terrible it seems, in terms of how to build one.

probably just a niche thing at this point.

also no idea why the grouped rebounds with defense.....

I dropped 48 points with a post scoring build in the demo. It was fun to use and slow as expected. however the demo isn't the greatest litmus test since the difficulty is lower and it doesn't represent how the build would fare in multiplayer games.

I really enjoyed the post build I made. Definitely the most comfortable of the 3 builds I’ve competed thus far. I will say playmaking primary is a must as it provides a good base for you to operate from. After that, it really depends if you want a low post (inside scoring) or high post (shooting) big.

Did they at least add in more post hook/fade animations? they've had the same 1 hook shot animation for all big men, along with 3 post fade animations, yet jumpshooting has unlimited animations and dribbling/layups have a ton of animations and packages. They got to add in signature post shots and even spin/backdowns etc, EDIT* i know this will never happen though.

Never make a big inside player without a rebounding arch.

My 6-11, post-scoring rebounder everages 17p 13r in pro am.

I would recommend learning little things, like... facing the basket hookshot. (post-up, r3 towards hoop)It's deadly. Also fades. IF you miss your first, you'll prolly make your second at like 80%.

When you get to 94, your player gets a bump in mid-range, and it means everything. Now you can make 70-80% open 15 footers, and more fades.

Also, immediately after getting an o-reb, press the hop button to the hoop. Sometimes your guy wont do it, butwhen he does it correctly, it's great. He just gets the reb, hops by the defender and you have a quick easy dunk attmpt.

For now I'm gonna have to disagree with y'all, though I could be wrong and Post Scoring could be dead


What I'm thinking about now is height. Will height be a factor? Guards might be small this year, not sure about big men. This game you're still forces you to be good at 1 thing, 2 at most. It's exactly like Archetypes. I also need to clarify if you can use the skill points you unlock in whatever field. Not trying to wait to 95 over to max dunking.

I doubt drop step is useless, probably just requires more skill. I rarely used it anyway.

What was your Post Control btw? That matters a lot for Post Spin, Drop Step, and Dream Shake, makes them more effective

Can’t remember but it was at least an 85. Drop Step is no where near as effective in 2K19 and that’s by design. Drop step is also tied to finishing this year.
