    HOW TO TRANSFER ROSTER FILES: FAQ THREAD

    DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD (unless you are adding a tutorial for another method). I am hoping this will eliminate the number of questions being asked about this subject.<o></o><o></o>

    360 - WHERE TO DRAG ROSTER FILES TO:
    <o></o>

    Note: it is recommended that you already have a game save for the game in question on your hdd, making it easier to locate the folder to drag the files/folders into.

    On your hdd, go to partition 3, content, user profiles, YOUR PROFILE, then the appropriate folder and sub folder. For some (e.g. college hoops drafts) you will need to copy the entire profile to your hdd, as the necessary files are hidden/attached to this. In this case the new profile will have to be loaded to access these.

    If you copy an entire profile to your hdd, (more common if you are getting the file from a .z36 format, go to your memory blade, games, the game in question, and you should see a save with “Unknown profile” underneath it, press A and choose copy (while signed in as your regular gamertag) and you should then have the needed file attached to your gamertag.

    For original xbox rosters (e.g. NFL 2K5) attach your hard drive and open it in the xport software - go to partition 3 - compatibility - then UDATA - and 53450030, the drag the folders in

    <o></o><o></o>360 - WHAT DO I NEED?<o></o>
    <!--[if !supportLists]-->
    ·
    <!--[endif]-->A Data migration cable (DMC) (free with the purchase of a 120gb hdd, calling Microsoft and asking for one, or filling out the form after you read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936860/?sd=xbox OR an Xport docking station which looks like this http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/X..._EF000191.aspx You may also be able to use an opened hdd and usb-sata cable, but I am not familiar with this technique – a lot of the points will still be valid in this case, or if you use a memory card adapter.
    <!--[if !supportLists]-->
    ·

    <!--[if !supportLists]-->

    ·

    360 - WHERE TO GET XPORT 1.07:
    <o></o>

    http://us.codejunkies.com/support/su...aspx?prodID=32
    <o>

    </o>360 - TO USE A Z36 FILE WITH AN XPORT/ DATA MIGRATION CABLE (DMC):<o>

    </o>
    To use these directly on a hdd - run xport 1.07 and open the z36 file, it will convert it to a bin (image), open this image in xport, and copy the necessary folder to your desktop. Use xport 1.07 to open your hdd, then drag this new folder onto your hdd into the appropriate place. Alternatively you can open two instances of xport, one for your hdd, and one for the image and copy the files directly to your hdd (from one xport window to another).

    *if for some reason this file comes up as a ROSS one instead of ROS - all you have to do is rename it to a ROS one and it will work
    <o>

    </o>
    360 - INSTALLING THE DRIVERS TO USE THE DMC:

    I am using a Vista Ultimate - SP1 laptop. I have device manager open while doing this to see what usb devices are installing/ed. I have also had this work on my friend's XP - SP2 PC, and a XP SP3 laptop.

    I plugged the cable only in and waited for two drivers to completely install: in usb devices - a mass storage device; and disk drives a usb device. I then (safely) removed the cable, plugged in my hdd to the cable, and replugged this (cable with hdd attached) into my pc. This then updated the disk drive part and showed up as a fujitsu drive. Safely remove the cable and restarted my pc.

    Plug in the cable (with the hdd already attached) and then start xport 1.07, or xplorer 360 - both pick up my 120gb fine.

    My hdd will only be accessible from a usb 2.0 port, not a usb 1 in xport 1.07, it will show up in both, but then hang the program if you are using a usb 1.

    My original hdd (a 20gb bought with my pro console in August 2006) does not appear correctly when using these steps though - leading me to believe there is an issue with older drives, and not the cable. I have tried reformatting my 20gb, but have not had success*.

    * except for one time, which I have been unable to replicate.

    Re: HOW TO TRANSFER ROSTER FILES: FAQ THREAD

    Re: HOW TO TRANSFER ROSTER FILES: FAQ THREAD

    This is from ODogg in the NCAA Roster subforum

    360 - DATEL TRANSFER KIT:

    Here is the full tutorial in case FK's site goes back down again:

    I know there are other guides around the net for how to transfer rosters to your 360 using the Datel Transfer Kit but I often found them lacking in a few critical areas and had to figure things out on my own. So I have decided to write my own FAQ in hopes of helping out the community into making the roster transfer from PC to 360 as painlessly as possible. If you notice any errors or omissions or confusing parts to this please feel free to post and I will try to correct as necessary.

    This FAQ only applies to the Datel Transfer Kit for the 360. If you haven't yet purchased one I'd suggest you do so before the game gets too close to shipping as it gets more and more difficult to buy the closer that NCAA shipping ships. You will also need a 360 memory card. Here is a link to what the 360 Transfer Kit looks like and does if you are considering buying one. They currently retail for $14.99 and can be found at most Best Buys and Circuit City's. Memory cards retail for $29.99 new but can be found used for $20-$22 at most EBgames and Gamestops (again don't wait until before launch as they are impossible to find then)

    http://us.codejunkies.com/shop/product.asp?c=US&cr=USD&cs=$&r=0&l=1&ProdID=323

    IMPORTANT NOTE** - Before doing anything you should make a backup of your Xbox 360 memory card you will use or ensure all of the files are copied to your Xbox 360 hard drive. Once you undergo this process you will not have access to any files on your memory card. They are erased and overwritten with an image that will include Fairdale King's Rosters. So with that being said.

    1. Before you plug in anything to your computer you should install the software that came with your transfer kit onto your PC (in step 4 we will plug in the actual Transfer Kit). It's best, for the sake of convenience, to install to the default directory which should be C:Program FilesDatel and it will install into a folder called Xchange360.

    2. Once you are done installing the PC disc you still have one more thing to do on your PC. Run your Xchange 360 software on your PC and notice the interface, which resembles your Xbox 360 blades. Select the yellow blade that is entitled "Options". Note the folder displayed on this screen. It should read: "C:X360 Memcard Images". This is where you need to download your roster file from FKrosters.com to. For some reason when the Xchange 360 software doesn't create that folder. You will need to manually create that folder, or change this directory to display the folder where you typically download your files from the internet to.

    3. After you have created the folder, download the rosters you would like to use from fkrosters.com and place them in the folder entitled "C:X360 Memcard Images" or whatever folder you selected the Xchange 360 software to download to in step 2.

    4. Plug in your transfer kit to your computer. At this point Windows XP will ask you whether you want to install the software automatically or whether you would like to tell Windows XP where to look. You should select the option to tell Windows where to look (have disk). If you selected the default option then it will be C:Program FilesDatelXChange 360. Windows should install the drivers and your device at this point. During my installation I got a second screen asking me to install the hardware again and I selected cancel but I'm not sure if this was a glitch or is typical. After selecting cancel for the second install request all was well.

    5. Insert your memory card into your transfer kit.

    6. Go back and run your Xchange 360 software. Select the blue blade on the far left hand side entitled "Hard Drive". If you followed all of the steps correctly you should see, directly to the right of the icons entitled "TO MEM", "DELETE" and "EDIT, the file that you downloaded from fkrosters.com. I am not sure what the exact name will be for 2008 but for 2007 which I am using now it is "FKROSTER 2007 NCAA" and then to the right of the file title you will see the time and date. This is the image file you should highlight and select. Once it is selected it should turn into a blue highlighted square. NOTE - if you do not see any image file at all here then you need to go back to the OPTIONS blade, make a note of the folder you placed your download into and then go look into that folder to make sure that the file is where it should be. This is the most common mistake people make (the one I made) in transferring rosters and usually where most users get stuck.

    7. Select the option on the left that shows a memory card entitled "TO MEM". Now wait for the file to copy. Be sure you do NOT remove the memory card or unplug anything while the file is copying or you risk damaging the card.

    8. Once it is completed then you may remove the memory card and put it onto your Xbox 360. Ensure there is no disc in your Xbox 360 (if you boot to the dashboard then this is not an issue however) and turn on your Xbox 360.

    9. Ensure you are signed into your console with a profile and then proceed to the purple tab entitled "SYSTEM". The third option down is entitled "MEMORY". Highlight that and select it. You should see 3 or more items displayed on this screen, the first being "ALL DEVICES - 2 devices", the second being something like "HARD DRIVE 7.4 gig free" and the last entitled "MEMORY UNIT - 40 MB free". If you have more than one memory card you may see more memory units. You should select the one containing the FKrosters.

    10. Select GAMES from the listed items. Then select NCAA FOOTBALL 08. You should see one file which should be entitled something like ROSTER-FKrosters-com. Select it and select Copy. It will ask you where to put the file, select the HARD DRIVE and press A. Wait for the file to copy.

    11. Once the file is copied to your hard disk you still have one more step to go (almost there!). Load up NCAA Football 08 and once you get into the game, go to the rosters screen and ensure the rosters are loaded. You should see named players. If you don't see named players then you may need to manually load the file. Once you get the named players loaded then you need to save the rosters under a different name, something using your own name (ex. ODogg-rosters) and then delete the file called ROSTER-FKrosters-com from your hard disk.

    12. **IMPORTANT** - Please ensure you rename the file per step 11 to something else and delete the original roster that you downloaded! Also, do not distribute the file to any friends or family without having them do this. Finally, do not, under any circumstances, upload these rosters to 360gamesaves.com - All of this is to ensure Fairdale Kings console isn't "locked" by Microsoft which basically corrupts his rosters for further download and use by future users. Please ensure to follow these steps so that everyone can enjoy his hard work!

    After you do all of this, the next time you turn on NCAA 08 you shouldn't have to do anything to see names (if NCAA 08 is like NCAA 07 you won't anyways). You should just be able to turn on your 360 with NCAA 08 in your console and you are ready to play with names. The only time you may have to load names is if you go online, then log off and play some on your own, then go back online. If you do go back online for a second time, to ensure the names load for online play (assuming they work online of course) then I would manually load the rosters.

      Re: HOW TO TRANSFER ROSTER FILES: FAQ THREAD

      Re: HOW TO TRANSFER ROSTER FILES: FAQ THREAD

      spydaman4 found this from http://www.datelcustomerservice.com/Xbox%20360/Xbox%20360%20Transfer%20Kit.htm

      The following post is for the DATEL TRANSFER KIT

      360 - Can I use the Xchange360 software to transfer game saves:<o></o>
      The Xbox 360 Transfer kit may be used to create a backup image of your Xbox 360 Memory Unit, or to write an image created in this manner to your memory unit. In the first case, all information on your memory unit will be backed up as one file, and stored on your PC. You may keep this file as a backup, or send it to friends over the internet. In the second case, all information from one of your previous image files or an image file of some else’s card will replace what is currently on your memory unit. When restoring an image file, please be sure to backup your memory unit first if there is any data on it that you wish to keep.<o></o>
      <u1></u1><u1><o></o></u1>
      <o></o>
      360 - The backup button in the xchange 360 software is not illuminated:<o></o>
      To use the Xbox 360 Transfer Kit properly, Windows must recognize the docking station and memory unit as two separate devices in the Device Manager, both of which should be named “Xbox 360 Memory Unit”. To access the Device Manager and verify these devices, please follow the steps below.<o>
      </o>
      <u1></u1><u1><o></o></u1>
      Please Note: The following instructions are for Windows XP users. Earlier versions of windows may have slightly differing menus or choices. Some of these changes may be noted in italics following each step that is different.<o></o>

      Step 1:
      Right-click on the desktop icon labeled “My Computer.” If this icon is not located on your desktop, or is a shortcut, check for one in your Start menu. A small grey menu should be displayed, choose Properties from this menu.<o></o>

      <u1></u1>
      Step 2:
      Select the Hardware tab from the tabs displayed at the top of this window, and then the Device Manager button from the resulting screen.<o>
      </o>
      <u1></u1>
      Some versions of windows may not have a Hardware tab, but the Device Manager button should be visible on the main window in this case.

      Step 3:
      Examine your Device Manager to find the device names assigned to your Transfer Kit. To verify you have found the correct device, or to assist you with finding the proper name, remove the memory card from the USB docking station. The device names assigned to the Transfer Kit will disappear from the list, and reappear when the card is reconnected. A properly installed unit will appear as two devices in the category USBIO controlled devices, and both devices should be named “Xbox 360 Memory Unit”. If one or both of the device names assigned to the Transfer Kit does not fall in this category, please follow the manual driver installation instructions listed below for each of the improperly installed devices.<o></o>
      <u1></u1><u1><o></o></u1>

      360 - How do I install the Xchange 360 Software:<o></o>
      <u1>

      Right-click on one of the improperly assigned device names and choose Properties. Choose the Driver tab from the resultant window, and then the Update Driver or Reinstall Driver button.<o>
      </o>
      </u1><u1></u1><u1><o></o></u1>
      You should now have begun the Update Device Driver wizard.<o>
      </o>
      <u1></u1>
      Step 1:
      You may be asked to allow windows to connect to Windows Update to obtain the driver, choose “No, not this time” and select Next.<o>
      </o>
      <u1></u1><u1><o></o></u1>
      This beginning screen may also ask you to choose between allowing windows to search for the driver and choosing the driver from a list or specific location. Choose the second option (advanced).<o></o>

      <u1></u1>Step 2:
      Next you will be asked to specify where you would like windows to search. Choose the last option, “<st1>don</st1>’t search, I will choose the driver from a list.”<o></o>

      <u1></u1><u1><o></o></u1>
      In place of this step or during one of the following steps, you may be prompted to choose the device type. Choose USBIO Controlled Devices, Universal Serial Bus Controllers, or Other Device. If at any time the window you have reached displays a button labeled Have Disk, make no other choices and proceed to step 3.

      Step 3:
      On the following screen you should see a button labeled Have Disk. Select this button.

      Step 4:
      A smaller window will pop up labeled “Install from manufacturer’s disk.” Click the Browse button in this window.

      Step 5:
      A larger window will pop up with a folder listing. Use the pulldown menu at the top to select C:\Local Disk as your start point (This is your PC hard drive). Your hard drive may also be named something else, such as your computer manufacturer. If you have difficulty finding it, start at My Computer and select the first option that starts with C:
      <o></o>
      <u1></u1><u1><o></o></u1>
      If no pulldown menu is available, use the back button (a folder with an up arrow drawn on it) to travel to your hard drive’s main directory. A selection for the hard drive may also be off to the side of the window, or you may find a My Computer button from which you may proceed as directed above. You will be looking for the Program Files folder, so if this is displayed in the window you are looking in the correct place.<o>
      </o>
      <u1></u1>
      Step 6:
      Double-click the Program Files folder. (Folders should be listed in alphabetical order) Next, Double-click the Datel folder, then XChange 360.<o>
      </o>
      <u1></u1><u1><o></o></u1>
      If this folder is not available, please ensure you have first installed the XChange 360 software from the disc included with your Transfer Kit.<o></o>

      <u1></u1>Step 7:
      Double-click the file x360mu.inf<u1></u1><o></o>

      Step 8:
      The folder browser should automatically close. Select OK from the “Install from manufacturer’s disk” window, and select Next from the Driver Update Wizard window, to which you should have returned. Windows should begin copying files, and then prompt you to click the Finish button to end the driver installation.<o>
      </o>
      <u1></u1><u1><o></o></u1>
      If there is a second improperly assigned device name, please repeat these steps with the second device. If both device names are now “Xbox 360 Memory Unit”, you should now be able to use the Xchange 360 software normally. Start the software, and see if the backup button is now available when the Memory Unit is connected to the docking station. If not, try restarting your PC, as the software may not have properly been updated if it was open during the driver installation process.<o>

      </o>
      <o></o><o></o>
      360 - How do I transfer a Memory Card image (.z36 file) to my Memory Card:<o>
      </o>
      <u1></u1><u1>To transfer a memory card image (.z36 file) to your memory unit, please follow these steps:<o></o></u1><o>
      </o>
      • Ensure you are using a .z36 file, and not a .zip or other type of file<o></o>
      • Open your Xchange 360 software, and choose the Yellow (Options) tab<o></o>
      • Click the Folder Icon button, and browse for the folder containing the .z36 file you want to use. For instance, if the .z36 file is on your desktop, browse for the folder named “Desktop” and select it as your default folder.<o></o>
      • Choose the Blue (Hard Drive) tab next, and click on the memory card image you wish to transfer.<o></o>
      • Click the button labeled “To Mem” to send the image to the memory unit.

        Alright, here is that video i promised. First off im sorry for the poor quality, my camera isnt the best. but i feel i explained it quite well. If its too bad or doesnt help i can re-do it with no problem.

        Keep in mind this is the only way you can transfer NFL 2K5 rosters or franchises from your PC to your HDD. The Datel Kit WILL NOT work.

          Re: HOW TO TRANSFER ROSTER FILES: FAQ THREAD

          I highly recommend purchasing the Datel Xchange 360 kit. It gives you a usb device to connect a memory card to your computer, and you use the software provided to select the file you've downloaded from OS and it does all the work for you. Very simple and has worked flawlessly for me.

          *Some files are zipped and all yu have to do for that is download an unzipping software for free online and it will extract the files for you.

          It's very easy people, no need for all the questions flooding all our posts.

            Re: HOW TO TRANSFER ROSTER FILES: FAQ THREAD

            Note regarding the above:

            I don't believe you can transfer xbox one saves using a 360 memory card though, so if you want NFL 2K5 rosters on your 360, you will need a way to transfer files directly to your hard drive. If not - and you have an arcade system/memory card already I would look into the Datel Xchange 360

            360 - Where to get the Xplorer 360 software:

            If you are having problems with xport 1.07 you could also try the xplorer software, which operates in a very similar manner. Download it from:

            http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/...kunmrBvsbQ.php (Beta 6)
            http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/...ukepPKAeul.php (Beta 5)

              Transfering Files on PS3: You'll need a USB

              1) On the USB ...Create a folder named "PS3"

              2) Inside of the "PS3" folder... Create a folder named "SAVEDATA"

              3) Put any saves you have downloaded into this folder ... ALL Save Data should be in a FOLDER with a name like "BLUS30077-ROS-1-8503..."

              3a) Be sure that you have UnZIPed or UnRARed the file. Most downloaded files are either ZIPed or RARed (You will need WinZIP or WinRAR to do this)

              4) Turn on your PS3 ... Under the GAME section... go to the SAVEDATA folder ... Inside there you should see a folder representing your USB ... your downloaded save should be in there

              5) Copy and Enjoy

              Always Pushin...

                360 - IF YOU CAN'T DRAG AND DROP FILES IN XPORT 1.07

                I ran into this problem for the first time last night - very simple to workaround for me: go up a level (to the folder as opposed to the file level) and drag this entire folder to your desktop; check if the file needs renaming (e.g. fro *.ROSS TO *.ROS) and rename if necessary; open Xport with your HDD and drag the file across.

                If this method doesn't work try going up to higher levels, or drag directly from Xport window to Xport window (have two instances running).
