Re: Does the CPU E-V-E-R bite...
Yes
Happened like 2-3 times with me from the 3 point line today within about a 2 minute stretch. I pumped and when they was in the air I pulled a reggie miller and through my body into them to go the the FT line for 3. I was playing on HOF on 360 as Detroit.PSN = BigTwan810
Detroit Lions l Detroit Pistons l Fly City's Finest

Re: Does the CPU E-V-E-R bite...
When you say "swipe" the ball, do you mean he attempted a steal or a block? It sounds like a steal attempt.
I have experienced steal attempts, but have never experienced a defender jumping to attempt a block, or even putting his hands up when I pump fake.
I play on Superstar. Is there a slider to fix this?Comment

Re: Does the CPU E-V-E-R bite...
On the 360, I've been able to get to the line a ton of times by pumpfaking a guy in the air and leaning into him. They ALWAYS call the foul which is something I'm trying to fix, because it's just too easy and I do it too often. It should be a risk/reward thing, where you take a chance on getting the foul call by putting up a bad shot when you lean into the defender rather than try to go by the defender and take an open jumper or drive to the basket.
I've played with the Knicks, and from the perimeter, I'd get Stephen Jackson into foul trouble when I play against the Pacers early and often. He loves to go up for the block it seems and if I pumpfake him on the perimeter I tend to lean into him and take the shot and usually I'm at the line for 3. I did that several times in a row with him in one game.Comment

Re: Does the CPU E-V-E-R bite...
Why don't you try adjusting sliders to see if you can get the defender to bite on a pumpfake? Try lowering defensive awareness, or increasing it all the way. Explore the extremes to see what effects it has on the defense, and try manipulating other sliders that you think might be involved with it.
I don't think they overlooked the whole biting on a pumpfake issue really, but it may not be that prominent on the PS2.
Honestly, on the 360, while it's cool to see, I think it might be a little overdone. It seems to me that if a player does bite on the pumpfake, it's an automatic trip to the free throw line. I want to tone it down a bit so it's a bit more hit or miss so you end up gambling on whether to make the defender pay for his error or just take the clean open shot.Comment

Funny you say that. I also have Knicks franchise going on the 360 and like you say I can get guys in the air no problem. They go for it like fish on a hook. Actually I kinda stopped doing it cause it was too easy. I didn't think the CPU would ever catch on. But if I need some quick points or want to get some chump in foul trouble..woops .. here comes the pump fake. Try using Jeffries. He can always get cats off his feet.Comment

Re: Does the CPU E-V-E-R bite...
I don't know if the ps2 version has it, but in the 360 version there is a contest shot in the player tendencies section. You could also try that to see if that helps. I'm in the same boat as neo and ownership as I see it too often.Comment

Re: Does the CPU E-V-E-R bite...
Yeah it's cool sometimes but when you can pull it off like once in about 4,5 games and in the 3pt territory, then it's not really that cool....Honestly, on the 360, while it's cool to see, I think it might be a little overdone. It seems to me that if a player does bite on the pumpfake, it's an automatic trip to the free throw line. Especially when ur guy actually hit the 3 pointer....Comment

Re: Does the CPU E-V-E-R bite...
I play on xbox 360 and when i pass the ball to my shooters, if they don't have enough space to just immediately shoot, this is usually my first option. If I can get them to jump at me I either side step for the shot, run around them and drive to the hole or shoot and draw the foul.Comment
