I'm in a league with my friends and I'm using the Rockets mainly because of T-Mac and Yao. For offense, I usually go with a pick and roll with Howard/Mac and try to get a easy dunk with Howard(When they double T-Mac) or a drive with McGrady. I also try to get the ball into Yao and drop-step or just shoot that little hook layup thing. Any good, effective post moves for Yao? Any other good offensive strategies out there for the Rockets?

Re: Any tips for using the Rockets?
I play mostly with the Rockets online. I have great success with using Yao and Howard in the post and then kicking the ball out to an open shooter (Alston or Head) because I find most people double team the person in the post.
I really don't like to use Battier because anytime I shoot with him I usually miss. I think the key for you would be guard play of Alston, Head and Wells. -

Just run around with TMAC until you can get a dunk. The computer can't stop it forreal. I know I would have like 20 dunks a game with TMAC if I played with that team.Concrete evidence/videos pleaseComment

Re: Any tips for using the Rockets?
The Rockets are pretty easy to use. They're most effective (and deadly move) is the pick and roll with Tracy and Yao. However, it's really easy to cheese and abuse it. When you use the pick and roll, my favorite thing to do it to drive it in with Tracy and kick it out to Shane who'll usually be standing on the left or right wing. For some reason, I almost never get my guys to stay in the corners. Of course, an even easier way to score is to pass it back to the roller for the dunk. Passing it back to the roller is also an easy way to get deep position for the post-up.
Personally, I try to play like the Rockets do in real life. That means establishing the post with Yao. The easiest way to do this is to get Yao as deep as possible using dual-player control. Use the player on the strong side to do the entry pass or it'll get picked off really easily. Just experiment vs. the CPU to get used to how Yao plays in the post-up. Establishing the post early can make it a lot easier for kick-outs. The Rockets would milk him as much as possible. The problem with using Yao in the post as a playmaker is that he gets stripped easily and is vulnerable to double teams.
I try to use Tracy a bit more as my primary playmaker. I like to post him up in mid-post area. When I do this, I can either use the turn-around jumper or I can face-up and shoot it. If you're facing up, you can also use the drop step. If you establish Tracy in the post, it'll be easy to dish it to open shooters as well as cutters. Using cutters is one of my favorite ways to score. Just post a player up, highlight the cutter with dual control and press Y or triable, and the player will cut. Pass it to him and he'll get the easy lay in if the lane isn't too clogged. Driving and kicking is also a great way to get shots, just make sure Tracy draws enough defenders. I also use pull up mid range jumpers and as well as threes from ridiculous places, just like in real life. Not TOO much, but just enough to vary my game.
Anyways, there's a lot more you can do. I don't feel like typing it up more. Just make sure that when you pick and roll, you use variation. Pick and Pops, throwing it back to the roller, kicking it out to juwan for the baseline J or to Rafer and Shane for the open three or midrange, or the pop with Tracy or the Poster with Tracy. For the second unit, I try to milk the crap out of Bonzi's post up game, while using cutters and kick outs to Luther or Snyder or whoever else. Also, avoid Ryan Bowen at all costs!!!! Good LuckLast edited by nikolatran; 03-27-2007, 02:53 AM.Comment

Nah it isn't cheesing. If the CPU played defense it could stop him.
Make sure when you get in the lane you press Y so you can do a drop step. It works best with Jake Tsakalitis (sp). But it can also work with Rafer Alston and Luther Head.Concrete evidence/videos pleaseComment

Rockets are the easiest team in the game to do whatever you want offensively. McGrady is the best player in the whole game if you want to dunk with him. He gets the dunk animation from around the foul line in no matter what I do to the sliders. Follow that up with one of the best centers in this game and a whole platoon of role players and pick your poison. I played an entire game where I abused the T-Mac drive/dunk just to see if the computer would even try to stop it and they didn't. He put up like 110 points. I developed house rules quickly after to stay clear of this crap though.I'm in a league with my friends and I'm using the Rockets mainly because of T-Mac and Yao. When the start to double you, just do the fake shot "tap X" and they will abandon the double team every time for some stupid reason and then it is even easier to abuse the CPU.Comment
