2k7 vs 2k8 graphically: a test

Ive heard from many who say 2k7 was better. I have no real opinion on the matter. just form your own. both games were presented with the same camera settings, tv settings, lighting in my house. no excuses

first its kobe vs kobe: both in replay mode at nearly the same zoom levels:
Both were taken in the 1st qrt. Take your pick.




This next shot was taken in the 4th qrt in 2k8. Progressive sweating has kicked in. I dont think 2k7 models changed from their sweating 24/7 nature. although you can argue players on the court do sweat 24/7. so there you go.

now, dont solely focus on the player models. Take a look at the court and the paneling and just the lights thats reflected off of it

Never before was the significance of the "wood planks" so clear. Honestly never noticed it but 2K8's hardwood puts them to shame.

wow does the staple center and MSG really have that cabin look on the floor like it shows in 2k7? 2k8 looks better imho.

YES!! I did something similar, well, I played 2k7 after playin the 2k8 demo like 20 times and the greatest improvement in the game are by far the arenas and player rendering. They look sharper and better defined.

The pictures dont lie. comparing the two is almost SAD, imo.

Yeah, after playing the demo for about 10 tries, I too tried to play 2K7. 2K7 just looks like a cartoon. The way it moves and the way it looks. I'm assuming the only people who are saying that 2K7 looks better are those who have already traded the game and haven't played it for a while. It's amazing how memory can mislead.

As a regular vistor to the garden for basketball and hockey games..2k just nailed it this year for both games..they had it pretty well for choops last year but this year its looking awesome..now if nba has the organ playing like it does in nhl i might shed a tear
