    Gamespot.com Review

It's light on new features, but NBA 2K8 is still a solid basketball game if you have yet to make the leap to the new generation of consoles.

Edit: Dude posted it right before me. Delete this thread.

Was my initial thought one of those years they gave 2K a decent score. Following year.....not so much.

          The Good

          • New signature style moves look amazing
          • CPU plays smart and is challenging but fair
          • Slam dunk contest is a fun addition
          • Lots of online options
          • Tons of ways to stay busy.

          The Bad

          • Too many missed layups
          • Awful instructions make it tough to learn new moves
          • Menus are still a chore to navigate.

I agree with the bad points, especially awful instructions. I agree with the overally score as well.

lol that's the only thing they can find wrong with the game? Yeah, the manual sucks I've heard.

                Re: Gamespot.com Review

Gamespot has always been my trusted source for reviews (other than here, of course) since they are usually fair when reviewing their games instead of buying into hype and/or letting the personal taste of the reviewer at hand get into the way. Granted, that's usually pretty hard to do since in essence a review is an opinion, but still, they are usually spot on with most games.

Good review, although I think this game is 10 times as awesome for hardcore basketball fans than casual ones. The OS review should go even more in depth with the little things that make it the best basketball game ever made to date.

                  Re: Gamespot.com Review

there are a number of new gameplay features this year. We didn't find this particularly useful, but you can use the right stick to raise or lower your defender's hands.

I'm not afraid to say this is the best basketball game I've ever played. It's just got it all. And it doesn't surprise me on the review, as I don't expect any of these places to give it over a 9.

the AI does a poor job of helping you rotate defenders to cover the open man
My biggest issue with the demo right here.

LOL yea like it wasn't in NBA 2k7, do these people not play previous games of the series to know what they are talking about?

And the Review also said that 2k needs to use the right stick for dribbling move, Heloooooooooooooo did that person even try to change the controls because NOW YOU CAN, maybe this part had to do with the Manual being crap which I agree with.

yeah, this was addressed before the game came out, and no one listened

If 2K is too cheap to add a few needed pages to the manual, maybe they could at least put some game instructions on 2ksports.com.

This review is a pretty good, alot better than the ign one. Hell with reviews though, you'll never know unless you play it yourself. If your that unsure about a game...rent it. End of story.
