How do you stop the passing lane?

I'm really having a hard time stopping the passing lane. I time it perfectly to intercept passes but it seems like my player is after the air instead of the ball. I usually hold the X button to make a steal but it didnt work too good so i'm beginning to tap the X button. I'm not having much success either. Do you guys use another button to stop the passing lane? like using the right stick or combining buttons like X and Y. If so, I would really appreciate an advice, thanks.

Try using the Right Trigger and X. Use it sparingly though. It will cause your player to be out of position, and open up a jumper or a lane to drive.

I just play good positional defense, which kind of sucks because you don't get written credit for that, which means my player isn't a top pick for the All star game. Too bad.

Anyway, I just stay close to my man and that will help keep them from passing the ball to him, especially those inside cuts.

when u take down awr ratings in the sliders, it helps facilitate more turnovers, like bad passes and such, and less backdoor passes
        Concrete evidence/videos please

Does it kinda gimp the computer into playing horrible if you already are solid with your skills? I'd like to see more turnover passes myself but not at the expense of me blowing through the competitions like an elephant in a rice patch. Wish they would take into account the passing rating more so that players who aren't good can't throw the freaking dimes .......% of the time.
