I can leak out for a a fastbreak layup and somehow the cpu manages to catch up and contest my shot. It's not fair.

Re: Why is the CPU so fast?
Yea 4real...if you have a breakaway unless its AI or TJ Ford someone like that most of the time they catch you unless you block them off....
When the computer has one tho...there's no way your catchin them -

Re: Why is the CPU so fast?
Its easily the worst part of this game, its just not realistic at all.
I don't get many fastbreak opportunities. When I do, let me slam it home and put on a show.Comment

I'd agree....even centers can catch up to my shooting guards, it's ridiculous but when the computer is on a fast break my shooting guard can't catch up to their Centers!!!!!The University of Miami

Re: Why is the CPU so fast?
i've tried every difficulty level and come to the conlusion that fastbreaks happen most naturally on PRO. The breakaway speed is excellent and the CPU does not do a mad dash.
So PRO + adjusted sliders FOR ME = challenging games + fun + fairnessAmen.Lol, people get enjoyment from their game in different ways. Why they enjoy one thing over another is not really important. --trobinson97Comment

Re: Why is the CPU so fast?
Its not the speed per se, its the fact that your layup and shooting animations slow your player, but their are no matching defensive animations. If a defender is running behind you, as you begin to shoot, he's still moving full speed, and can link directly into shot contesting animations. They need some defensive gathering transitional animations where the defender has to slow down just like the ballhandler.
Keep in mind, when the momentum is against you, the defense has an attribute boost including speed. You'll always be caught from behind when the opponent is on their run and vice versa...Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

Re: Why is the CPU so fast?
They fixed this in the last patch for NBA2K7, the speed on the fast breaks were almost perfect last year after the game was patched.
For some reason it's back for NBA2K8.
VC please fix this issue "for good" in NBA2K9.Comment

Re: Why is the CPU so fast?
Yeah I had Monte Ellis break a full court press (a good step & a half) from Damon Stoudamire. When I passed half court Damon hit another gear, passed Monte, and stopped his easy path to the basket. Monte spd is around 95 & Damon is around 85.
It don't matter how fast someone is the cpu always catch up or do some unrealistic animation to stop the shot.
Why have attributes when the animations are the same for every player.

Dude I use AI on HOF mode w/ the Nuggets and I got guys catching me left and right. I'm gonna try what one poster said and put it on PRO and see if that works.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Starrtech...I'd be willing to check those sliders of yours out if I can see realistic fastbreaks. Any way you can post them?Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: Why is the CPU so fast?
I haven't had this issue, and I play on Pro. I do have an issue with the CPU not driving enough though, and doing some dribble move so I can catch up to them, instead of just sprinting to the basket.Comment

Re: Why is the CPU so fast?
My concern with PRO, with all my tests, is that the CPU doesn't play to their tendencies. They hold the ball throughout the shot clock and then shoot. I play the Warriors and Suns at 100 Fast Break Tendency and they dont push the ball. They're too passive. I believe sim starts at All-Star in this game.Comment
